CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Country Operations division. We are looking for a Grain Origination Manager to be responsible for our origination, accounting, and customer service staff. You must be able to make decisions, work independently, be detail oriented, and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

You will:

  • Generate origination volume as set by yearly budgets and targets.

  • Manage supplier and contractual exposures, default risk and contractual execution costs.


  • Purchase and sell commodities using available market data, market knowledge and expertise to attain the most cost effective and therefore most profitable results.

  • Develop and coordinate merchandising strategies unique to regional locations and consistent with company goals.

  • Expand merchandising potential to accommodate opportunities with emphasis on increasing market share.

  • Assist marketing staff with development of major positions by supplying accurate regional information.

  • Maintain an awareness of business conditions and competition in the region and communicate pertinent information to respective personnel in the company.

  • Maintain a sound understanding of barge and truck transportation for commodity shipment. Keep abreast of transportation rates and make the most effective decisions involving procurement and logistics.

  • Secure maximum expansion of market share in designated markets and ensure growth in both volume of grain and bottom line profits.

  • Support department control by completing and monthly reports.

  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other operating departments to assure the company functions as a coordinated group.

  • Check accounting for accuracy and follow through on contracts and settlements, making sure that they are settled in a timely manner.

  • Manage local origination, accounting, and customer service staff. Conduct annual performance reviews, provide training and coaching support.

  • Enhance the value proposition our Co-op delivers to customers by successfully executing market risk management tools and services for our patrons.Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree

  • 5 plus years of grain Origination experience

  • Knowledge of Midwest trading Markets

Preferred Qualifications:
(desired)

  • Series 3 and 30 license, or ability to attain within first 3 months of employment

This individual will work for a dynamic team in a fast-paced, aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This position is located in Davenport, Iowa. Key Responsibilities: * Manage the Quality Programs team. * Administer direct supervisory responsibilities for personnel including selection, hiring, training, development, tasking, performance evaluations, and promotional recommendations. * Provide guidance and keep employees informed of policies and operational changes. * Ensure timely support and flow down of goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). * Review business opportunities and utilize team to provide inputs on behalf of Quality including compliance matrices, risk register inputs, resource planning, schedule inputs, lessons learned capture/review, and proposal volume inputs. * Develop and execute action plans with Sales, Program, and Engineering teams to reduce profitability risks and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). * Ensure project/program related Quality tasks are fully staffed. * Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure internal/external quality requirements and Business Management System (BMS) processes are being adhered to. * Monitor project/program health with specific focus on quality; Raise concerns to appropriate parties and create action plans to address proactively. * Act as the Quality point of contact to customers, which may require attendance at customer meetings, providing reports to customers, etc. * Advise leadership on customer/regulatory trends related to Quality. * Develop/review processes, procedures, and work instructions as needed. * Analyze data and provide reports as needed. * Participate in or lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts with a multi-disciplined team. * Participate in or lead continuous improvement initiatives such as tactics, KAIZEN events, work streams, etc. * Prepare and manage budget and capital appropriations. * All other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering. * 5 years Quality Engineering experience * 5 years working knowledge of project/program lifecycles through production readiness * 5 years supervisory experience. * 2 years Project Management experience. * This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning/Production Part Approval Process (APQP/PPAP) principles and use of associated tools (e.g., AS9145) * Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally. * Trained Internal Auditor. * ASQ CQE. * Proficiency in GD&T. * Ability to analyze and solve problems. * IPT experience including understanding the roles and responsibilities of working within a matrixed organization * Ability to travel as necessary. * Effective verbal/written communications and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work in an office or indoor industrial environment. * ISO 9001:2015/AS9100 Rev D or MIL-STD experience.
