We are seeking an Organic Extractions Technician / Laboratory Technician, for an entry level, full-time position within a fast paced, high volume environmental testing laboratory located in Dayville, CT. Position will be responsible for sample preparation for a variety of different environmental sample types. On the job training available. High school degree required, as is a minimum of two (2) semesters of college science course credits.
Following established SOP's, Laboratory Technicians support laboratory staff through the execution of various laboratory duties, resulting in the timely and accurate reporting of data
Prepare environmental test samples for analysis
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Prepare necessary standards, solutions, media, etc., that are required for sample analyses
Perform basic equipment and instrumentation set up and operation
Execute routine laboratory maintenance efforts, such as glassware cleaning and ensuring the laboratory is well maintained
Accurately maintain laboratory logs and records
Monitor and stock laboratory supplies
Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMS
Comply with and promote Personnel, Safety, and Quality Program
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of laboratory processes and procedures
General understanding of basic laboratory terminology and concepts
Ability to work with small vials, test tubes and delicate laboratory equipment
Ability to handle organic solvents and acid/base solutions
Ability to read and apply established protocols and SOP's to daily objectives
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
Education and Experience:
Minimum of two (2) semesters of college level science coursework with laboratory exposure
Familiarity with pertinent scientific terminology as it relates to laboratory sciences
