Organ Donation Coordinator - St George

As a Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC), you will be responsible for all aspects of organ recovery. These duties include completing on-call functions and being responsible for coordinating the allocation, recovery, preservation, packaging, and transportation of organs for research and transplant. The ODC will also respond to referrals, adhere to regulatory requirements, and complete documentation. Additionally, The ODC will develop an approach plan and lead conversations with families to obtain authorization, medical/social histories, and provide emotional support. Finally, the ODC will assist in establishing and maintaining effective communication and collaboration between DonorConnect and assigned hospital leaders. This includes development/educational functions within assigned hospitals, leading and participating in Donor Council activities, and working with hospital staff to provide support, answer questions, and sensitively promote the mission of DonorConnect.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.

Training/Education/Certification:
of education and relevant work experience
working as a clinical donation coordinator at an OPO
Completion of NATCO introductory course within one year of hire
Successful completion of CPTC after one year and before two years of hire
Experience Required:
prior experience as a clinical donation coordinator at an OPO
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of the organ and tissue transplant fields
Understanding of the critical care environment
Knowledge of computer hardware and software
Able to manage a brain-dead donor through independent critical thinking and problem
solving, priority setting, and resourcefulness
Excellent public relations and interpersonal abilities
Solid oral and written communication skills
Attentive to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
Able to work well with all levels of personnel in hospital settings, and within the differing
guidelines of each institution
Willingness to train and assist others
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently
Exposure to patient elements including communicable disease, bloodborne pathogens,
and other common hazards of a clinical setting
