Baylor Medical Center at Uptown is seeking a qualified Operating Room Orderly/Retractor Holder to fill a Full-Time need.

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: the OR Manager/Director of Nursing

TYPICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, pulling or pushing of carts. Frequent standing and walking or other means of mobility for extended periods of time. The ability to move and position large equipment such as c-arm, flouroscan, Stryker towers, beds, or gurneys. Requires exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances and radiation.

DUTIES:

  • Assist with room turnover and preparation for following procedures in a timely manner

  • Collect and properly dispose of all wastes including biohazardous materials

  • Assists with limited patient care in the operating, recovery, and procedure rooms as needed, specified, and directed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse

  • Orders and stocks supplies for the areas assigned

  • Transporting equipment and supplies to/from OR to storage

  • Manage inventory of supplies

  • Under supervision, Holds retractors in the operative suite

  • Weekly and monthly cleaning of designated areas as assigned by Infection control Nurse

  • Aids with continuous patient flow by providing pre-operative area with clean stretchers and /or moveable recliners, as necessary

  • Assists with removal of dirty linens and placing trash in appropriate receptacles

  • Maintain patient/facility confidentiality at all times

  • Ensures relevant cleaning measures for the control and prevention of infection

  • Includes cleaning, disinfecting, and disposal of soiled linen and solid waste

  • Assist nurses as assigned

  • Assists with the safe transfer of patient to gurney

  • Assists with routine care, maintenance, and troubleshooting of designated equipment and devices

  • Assists with the rotation, receiving, checking of out dates and storage of supplies

  • Participates in quality assurance / performance improvement program

  • Participates in activities as assigned to acquire and maintain accreditation

  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of and compliance with safety policies and procedures, recognizes safety hazards, and initiate appropriate corrective and/or preventative measure

Managed by United Surgical Partners International &amp; Joint Commission Accredited</p><p>Job Description:</p><p>North Central Surgical Center is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join our OR team during our peak season:</p><ul><li>SEASONAL</li><li>COMMITMENT: 12 WEEKS</li><li>START: ON OR BEFORE 11/1/2022</li><li>END: AFTER 12 WEEKS OR NO LATER THAN 12/31</li><li>$65.00 PER HOUR</li><li>$2,000 BONUS PAID UPON COMPLETION</li></ul><p>PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS</p><ul><li><p>Completion bonus is to be paid after completing 12 consecutive weeks of employment while meeting all shift requirements during that time period. Only one (1) completion bonus will be paid per the 12-week commitment.</p></li><li><p>All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.</p></li><li><p>During the 12-week period, the employee must work one (1) holiday shift (defined by Department Manager or designee).</p></li><li><p>Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off.
