SCHEDULE: PRN, Flex Schedule
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), the Orderly (PCA) performs assigned patient care duty functions such as transporting patients, obtaining supplies and equipment, and assisting in the operating room with holding patient extremities or other assigned duties. Completes all routine daily assigned tasks in a timely manner, includes but is not limited to assisting in OR equipment setup, patient transportation, department and equipment cleaning, lifting and position of patients, assisting with surgical preps, stocking supplies and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent. Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant certificate from a healthcare training agency preferred.
Prefer previous work experience in job related position. Certificate from a PCA school or completion of a Health Sciences Specialization Course from another institution preferred. Equipment used in the delivery of patient care.
Telephone, fax, copier, personal computer, and housekeeping equipment. Excellent verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to prioritize work.
Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to interact effectively with the public. Demonstrates a service oriented disposition with respect for others.
Must be able to assist in lifting, pushing/pulling, turning, and ambulating patients, and moving equipment involving a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Visual and hearing acuity.
Must be able to pass a departmental physical endurance test related to patient preps and have manual dexterity required for case set-up and manipulation of equipment. Ability to meet the attendance requirements of the job.
