Basic Job Functions & Requirements
Work safely at all times, and abide by all safety rules and requirements.
Work in mechanical trades such as piping, sheet-metal and millwright.
Perform welding functions.
Perform sheet-metal, piping & structural steel lay-out, fabrication & installation.
Work in both shop and field environments.
Work weekday and weekend overtime schedules both scheduled and on minimal notice.
Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehend mechanical specifications and understand mechanical drawings.
Capable of following written and verbal instruction in order to perform supervised functions outside area of general expertise.
Possess necessary skills, knowledge and experience in welding carbon and stainless steel pipe, sheet-metal and structural steel, using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG), gas metal arc (MIG) and shielded metal arc (SMAW). Must be capable of certifying to ASME and AWS standards.
Experience in the use of hoists, pulleys, personnel lifts, and material handling equipment.
Use of hand and power tools, and equipment such as cutting torches and metal working tools.
Be able to work closely with other craftsmen, and supervise helper level employees.
Other skills a plus for the position, but not a requirement:
Manual Torch Brazing and Soldering.
Knowledge of flux-cored arc, resistance welding, plasma arc, and submerged arc welding as well as aluminum welding techniques.
Education and Experience
Minimum high school or general education diploma (GED) with good math skills.
Minimum 4 years' trade experience required with verifiable references.
Good mechanical aptitude with good mathematical skills to measure angles, and be capable of layout and fabrication of piping and structural steel assemblies.
Must have a clean driving record and possess a valid, active driver's license.
Must be able to report to work on time and on a regular basis.
Must be willing and capable of following chain of command, but also must be capable of independent thinking and action when necessary.
Good verbal and written communication skills, strong problem solving skills, and also willing to assume a group leadership position if required.
Must have a good working knowledge of the use of measuring tools and instruments.
Self motivated, as well as capable of motivating others to achieve highest potential.
Willingness to learn new skills and perform assignments that are outside position requirements.
Must be willing to fulfil short and medium-term travel assignments.
