Jacobs is NASA's largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States. We have an exciting opportunity for a Orbital Debris Laboratory Measurement Analyst to join the team with the Science & Exploration Division. We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened.

Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews. The Orbital Debris Laboratory Measurement Analyst will: Work in a laboratory environment used to simulate ground-based telescopic measurements and perform microscopic inspections of spacecraft materials, including materials returned from space Support scientific data acquisition, analysis, and development of an in situ sensor to be used in low Earth orbit Work closely with JETS Orbital Debris Research & Science Operations (ODRSO) colleagues and NASA customers Present work products to customers and counterparts in written and verbal formats Support and participate in technical interchange meetings Perform other duties as required Here's what you'll need:

Requisition Qualifications: This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering in the field or in a related area. Experience with spectroscopy, microscopy, CCDs and telescopes Experience in data analysis using MATLAB, Python or other similar programming languages Experience with design of experiment methodology Experience with laboratory measurement methods and record keeping Requisition Preferences: BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Astronomy or relevant discipline from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years of relevant experience Experience with Space Situational Awareness astronomy, orbital debris and micrometeoroid environments Astrometric/photometric/radiometric data reduction and analysis experience Experience with spacecraft design, development, testing, and/or documentation Familiarity with orbital mechanics Work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and possess excellent oral and written skills Exhibit the qualities of creativity, conception, vision and personal initiative, and will be expected to develop new cooperative relationships and team capabilities Why Join Our Team?

Essential Functions Work Environment Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time). Equipment and Machines Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
