The surgery assistant position consists of assisting all Oral Surgeons including residents with surgery in a clinic and operating room setting for oral surgical type procedures ie. implants, extractions, sinus lift etc..They must maintain all operatories to ensure smooth patient flow follow and practice all OSHA standards regarding infection control and blood borne pathogens, perform sterilization and operatory disinfection responsibilities. Assistants must be certified to take radiographs and be knowledgable about university and privacy policies. They must also provide a comfortable environment for patients.

Required Skills

Must have certification in Radiology DAANCE certification highly desired Musthave at least 1-3 years direct Oral Surgery Dental Assisting experience Vocational or Technical Training preferred DANB certification preferable.

This includes maintaining a safe environment, assuring that patients' dental needs are addressed in a caring, confidential, timely, and thorough manner, that patients are informed about their treatment and clinic procedures, and those patients' finances are handled accurately and efficiently. Under minimal supervision, the Administrative Assistant provides advanced administrative support and communications for the department. S/he will handle complex and confidential situations and requests and serve in a highly visible capacity as resource for department with students, staff, faculty and other constituents. S/he will oversee daily operation of office, evaluating workflow and productivity and providing direction and guidance to office staff. Produces and drafts reports and other complex documents and materials, including proofreading and editing, designing layout and graphics for brochures and presentations. Coordinates department budget to include monitoring, tracking expenditures, troubleshooting problems and preparing reports. Will also gather data, conduct research and draft reports, summaries or material for presentation. S/he will plan and coordinate meetings and special events, including contacting speakers, designing promotional material and coordinating support for speakers and presenters. May also coordinate programs and/or projects for department. Basic Requirements: * Must possess strong office technical skills including word processing, editing, spreadsheets and databases. Must be able to learn independently, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be supportive of other office staff. * Must work effectively as a team player, and with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff. Must also have good listening skills and have the ability to problem solve while remaining professional and courteous at all times, whether it is on the phone or in person. * Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task as well as know how to delegate when appropriate. Also, the candidate should take initiative to ensure deadlines are met, seeking guidance when necessary, but also able to work well on his/her own, takes pride in his/her work, and have a willingness to take on new tasks and functions.
