The DBA position is an integral role within the managed hosting industry. Logicworks' DBA team is responsible for supporting multiple customers simultaneously, running Oracle and other databases, by performing installations, upgrades, and migrations. We are looking for a talented Oracle Database Administrator to help support and coordinate database activities for our Managed AWS, Managed Azure, and Private Cloud customers. An effective candidate will be able to implement policies and procedures for the management, protection, and efficient utilization of systems, data, and databases. Standard operating procedures will include running scripts, installation, migration, monitoring, backup and recovery, tuning of database and underlying OS, helping to resolve complex customer-related problems, and database related work orders in a timely manner. In addition to the daily Oracle database tasks, this DBA will play a role in establishing and executing database migrations to the cloud. The responsibilities will include:
Performing day to day Oracle database administration in large, complex environments
Responsible for the overall performance, tuning, and backup/recovery of databases and optimization of underlying operating systems and hardware architectures for managed database service clients.
Maintaining database in high availability (HA) solutions to meet reliability and high client service level standards
Implementing proactive monitoring of performance and overall health of clients' environments
Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle server software and related products
Deploying highly available architectures using Oracle RAC
Planning and implementing database migrations in public cloud environments
Configuring Oracle databases in AWS & Azure environments
Participating in an on-call rotation for after-hours escalations, nights and weekends
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in computer science, IT, engineering, or equivalent experience
Five or more years of experience as an Oracle database administrator
Extensive Linux administration experience
A high degree of self-management in area of tracking, time management, documentation and vendor / service management
Experience in planning and executing the migration of databases between different environments, especially public cloud environments
Strong familiarity with database HA and DR solutions
Experience in installing and administering database instances in design, development, test and production environment
Experience with external storage arrays, fiber channel switches and HBA's, and SCSI raid storage devices
Information security experience and strong understanding of security practices including data encryption
Deep knowledge of ASM, Dataguard, advanced Replication, CRS & Oracle Grid
Expertise with RMAN, ADDM/AWR & SQL profile
High level of proficiency with Database Performance Tuning techniques
Experience in PL/SQL and client/server configuration in a Linux environment; in Oracle 11g and above
Experience working with engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
Motivated self-starter personality; must be able to work independently of supervision as well as possess strong communication skills in a client-facing environment
SQL Server database administration including Availability Groups, backup expertise, database replication, monitoring, and AG/VIP failover management
Familiarity with Oracle Advanced Security Options, Streams, and data warehousing
Knowledge of object-oriented programming or basic coding
Familiar with Rubrik backup solution
Knowledge of Azure database services
Any Oracle Certifications would be a plus
