The E-Verify program determines the employment eligibility of new hires for businesses across the country by matching information provided by the employee to existing information contained on SSA and DHS databases.
Clients DataBase 2 (DB2) architecture comprises the nationwide online database for millions of users, including all client's users and the public, and processes over 60 million transactions per day. These environments consist of more than 30 DB2 databases.
Clients ORACLE architecture comprises the nationwide client/server databases for both internal and internet users. This area currently supports over 450 ORACLE databases throughout SSAs life cycle environment. SSAs GREENPLUM architecture comprises cloud server databases for both internal and internet users.
Client is looking for a Principal Subject Matter Expert to provide DB2, Oracle and Greenplum systems programming support for SSA integration, training, acceptance, and production life cycles. The infrastructure that must be maintained includes: DB2 subsystem across four life cycle environments, the installation and maintenance of software packages such as CA-Unicenter, Omegamon and QMF.
In support of the task, the contractor shall perform activities such as those described in the sub-tasks below.
Purpose: Maintain ORACLE database software, and related ORACLE products: Oracle Internet Directory (OID), Oracle on VM (OVM), Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB), Oracle Enterprise User Security Services, Oracle Partitioning Product, Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), Oracle Data Guard and Oracle SQL Client.
Install and maintain ORACLE software versions 10,2,20, & 11G and OID, OEM, OWB, OEUS, RAC and OES.
Operate and configure ORACLE. Some common activities include:
Create primary database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application.
Create new database objects (table, views, indexes) once application developers have designed an application.
Modify the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers for DB releases.
Enroll users and maintaining system security.
Ensure compliance with ORACLE license agreements.
Control and monitor user access to the database.
Maintain archived data.
Create new ORACLE instances.
Manage names resolution via OID.
Modify the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers.
Perform database reorganizations, export/imports.
Evaluate and install ORACLE security patches.
Write shell scripts as well as SQL scripts to monitor all process for the ORACLE databases. Example: Scripts to alert all team members as well as the database administrators in other SSA components of problems.
Write UNIX based scripts to monitor database integrity, server stability, security, and intruder detection alerts, and system resources.
Assist UNIX/Linux administrators with configuration changes to the HP UNIX or Redhat operating systems for both the RISC and x86 platform as they apply to Oracle software.
Create job flows for Control-M batch in conjunction with backups and downloads from main-frame.
Troubleshoot problems at a high level using system dumps, system traces, log files and the ability to correct level of Oracle support using Metalink.
Develop sophisticated and sometimes complex documentation regarding processes, procedures and tasks performed.
Create detailed build and upgrade documents that explain precisely what was performed, how it was done and why it needed to be done.
Attend meetings on upcoming and ongoing projects.
Train SSA personnel on related software.
All of the above activities must be completed in accordance with SSA build standards and maintenance requirements, which will be provided either orally or in writing.
The contractor shall distribute build and upgrade documentation as a hard and soft copy to a distribution list furnished by the Project Manager. A sample document will be provided.
Software depot to be located where agreed upon with the SSA Project Manager.
The contractor shall provide status reports on meetings and efforts to the Task Manager via email on a weekly basis.
Via email, the contractor shall submit design documents and flow charts to the Task Manager within 5-8 working days of completion of requirements analysis.
The contractor shall brief SSA Managers and staffs of all change/installation plans within 2-5 working days of schedule development.
The contractor shall submit documentation to the Task Manager via email between 1 day and 2 months of assignment
Software Installation and Maintenance
Purpose: Perform software installation and maintenance of ORACLE and DB2 and GREENPLUM software and third party vendor products.
Install DB2 software and third party vendor software such as CA-Unicenter, Omegamon, and QMF using System Modification Product/Extended (SMP/E) across SSA System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Install ORACLE and third party vendor software such as F-Secure, CA Access Control, CA eTrust software suite, and EMCs Time Finder across SSA System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Install GREENPLUM and third party vendor software such as F-Secure, CA Access Control, CA eTrust software suite, and EMCs Time Finder across SSA System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Maintain ORACLE and DB2 and GREENPLUM software and third party vendor software across SSA SDLC.
Install DB2 Data Replication software and maintain a continuously available environment.
Update configuration documentation reflecting new software versions.
Research compatibility between DB2 and third party vendor software.
Research compatibility between z/OS, Top Secret, application software in relationship to DB2 and third party vendor products.
Establish and document test plans.
Coordinate test activities with application development staff and external partners.
Document changes using SSA Change Management System (CMS).
Communicate and coordinate software upgrades with the Task Manager.
Upgrade all software according to agreed upon schedule.
Update configuration documentation.
Install and maintain new third party tools and software.
Address audit findings through documentation or software changes or process changes.
The contractor shall submit documentation of any external customization of COTS monitoring software to the Task Manager via email usually within 2-3 days of completion. Customization configuration will be determined by the Managers and staffs; software will be provided by SSA.
Using CAPRS, document problem resolutions including full root cause within 2 working days of problem resolution.
Other documents required upon resolution of problems will be due based upon a mutually agreeable date between the contractor and SSA Task Manager.
