OMES is seeking a full time Oracle Database Administrator providing support to our Oklahoma City Location. This is a full time unclassified position in state government.

Position Summary

This position is assigned responsibilities involving the administration of Oracle databases. This includes the design, development, maintenance, security administration, capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning, upgrade, backup and recovery of Oracle databases to ensure the availability, integrity, confidentiality and security of information.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensures maximum database availability, performance and security by utilizing best industry practices and providing Oracle database-related assistance to end users and application developers.

  • Designs and implements on-line databases, security access systems, data sets and jobs; defines parameters for file or space utilization; establishes direct access files or other file configurations as required; monitors space utilization and makes modifications as needed.

  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and code comments.

  • Provides applications development and other unit personnel with database and data security information required to support application development and other activities; supports repository/database dictionary requirements and activities; develops, implements and monitors control blocks and data definitions to support databases.

  • Confers with computer operations, technical support, user and vendor representatives concerning database requirements, system performance, software maintenance, capacity planning, and data security requirements.

  • Reviews systems specifications for compliance with departmental, division and database administration standards.

  • Responds to database operational emergencies as required including database recoveries involving the use of database log files which provide for the recovery of databases with no loss of data and which do not require the user to reenter data into the database.

Valued Skills and Experience

Knowledge of data management and Oracle database encryption technology. Experience with Oracle 18c, 12c, 11g, 10g, 9i.

Experience with Oracle OEM 13c, 12c, 11g, 10g Grid Control. Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Services. Good PL/SQL skills.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Unix, Linux, zLinux, PowerShell scripting on Windows Server Core. Understanding of ITIL foundations.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements include a two-year degree or certification in computer science, management information systems, data management or a related field and four years of experience in database administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
