We are seeking an Oracle Application Database Administrator IV for an opportunity to join our team at our headquarters located in San Antonio, TX or as a Remote Racker!

As a lead Oracle Applications Database Administrator, you will have the opportunity to join a high caliber team within Rackspace, a leading applications and database managed service provider! A Racker excelling in this role exhibits excellent leadership/technical skills and is seeking a chance to work across various technologies/platforms while interacting with enterprise customers from multiple industry verticals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead DBA managing multiple Oracle EBS and applications customers.

  • DBA will be required to lead a team of offshore DBA resources that support multiple remote managed customers. Team is structured to provide 24x7x365 support to global customers.

  • Responsibilities include planning, implementing, upgrading, tuning, administering and maintaining various Oracle Applications (like E-Business Suite (11i, R12.1.3, R12.2, ASCP, WebLogic, Oracle Access Manager, Demantra, Agile etc.) and Oracle databases.

  • Responsible for configuring, administering, and maintaining Oracle application database environments in a RAC configuration.

  • Knowledge of AWS, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are a plus.

  • Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to Oracle Application database management. Documents operating procedures and implements best practices across the service for customers and internal teams.

  • Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the stability, availability, performance and reliability of the system/service.

  • Monitors production environments, providing acceptable system performance, and assuring data is protected and recoverable as required.

  • Hosts weekly calls with assigned customers. Participates in customers' strategy calls/Change meetings. Participates in Quarterly business review calls with customers.

  • Provides audit/security information to customers.

  • Acts as SME on Oracle technology and serves as technical project manager on Oracle projects.

  • Works with customers to develop a personal one to one relationship.

What You'll Do:

  • Provides audit/security information to customers.

  • Acts as SME on Oracle technology and serves as technical project manager on Oracle applications related projects.

  • Works with customers to develop a personal one to one relationship.

  • Work with multiple team across the internal organization as well as customer's organization.

  • Decisions impact the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own function/client group.

  • Contributions result in business or process improvements.

  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Supervison: Operates under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. Serves as a mentor to lower level team members. Acts as the highest-level escalation point for the team.

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong understanding of Oracle E-Business Suite Topology.

  • Expert in Oracle EBS System Administrator tasks like User management, Concurrent Manager administration, Workflow, JRE, Java Virtual Machine, Heap Sizing, shared Appl_top, Application security, SSL/TLS, Customizations, as well as Apps DBA tasks like index management, integrity checks, statistics gathering, Backup/recovery/failover, Disaster recovery, Auditing and Security.

  • Expert knowledge in MAA (Maximum availability architecture) solutions including Real Application Cluster, Data Guard, Multi Nodes using Load balancer, and set up of External Modules in DMZ.

  • Expert knowledge of performance tuning at the database and application level.

  • Expert knowledge in backup design and support.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skillswritten and verbal.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate across various IT teams.

  • Excellent multitasking skills.

  • Excellent customer facing skills.

  • Ability to apply varying leadership skills and traits that create solutions and results to unexpected situations.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management.

  • Requires solid understanding of the processes, procedures and systems used to accomplish the work and in-depth familiarity with the broader underlying concepts in own job family/job discipline.

  • Applies understanding of how the team relates to other closely related areas to improve efficiency of own team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a directly related field required.

  • At the manager's discretion, a high school diploma and 12 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement.

  • 8 year of database related industry experience as an Oracle DBA and Oracle 11i/R12/R12.2 Administrator.

  • Proven experience managing Oracle application database configurations.

  • Proven experience implementing and supporting enterprise database systems.

Physical Demands: General office environment. Low levels of stress may occur when troubleshooting database. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. No special physical demands required. Schedule flexibility to include working a weekend day regularly and holidays as required by the business for 24/7 operations

This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS: * Demonstrate an understanding of PL/SQL constructs (triggers, functions, packages, procedures) and their processing * Create, alter, and drop database users * Monitor and audit web server and database access * Develop and implement a strategy for managing security (roles, privileges, authentication) * Perform daily web and database server backups * Perform daily server health checks and log findings * Allocate and manage physical storage structures (e.g. datafiles, redo logs, control files) * Troubleshoot and resolve web and database server issues * Troubleshoot and resolve user connection problems * Troubleshoot database application issues to include reviewing applicable error logs on both web and database servers * Diagnose and resolve locking conflicts * Performance tuning * Use data dictionary tables and views * Demonstrate and understanding of the capabilities of the underlying operating system as it relates to the Oracle database and and/or any supported optional products * Perform complete system shutdown and startup as required * Track database metrics and provide to management upon request COMMUNICATION/TEAM BUILDING/ATTITUDE: It is critical that the person filling this position be able to complete projects independently and with little or no supervision.
