Ocala Health encompasses Ocala Regional Medical Center, a 222-bed facility located in the heart of Ocala, and West Marion Community Hospital, a 138-bed hospital located in west Marion County, and Summerfield ER, a freestanding emergency department located in southern Marion County. Ocala Health has the only Commission on Cancer approved cancer center in Marion County. The hospitals offer a host of other quality and award winning services including bariatric surgery, orthopedic care and joint replacement, robotic surgery, cardiac and vascular services including open heart surgery and interventional procedures, emergency, neurological and rehabilitation services. Ocala Regional Medical Center is also a Level II Trauma Center. Ocala Health's outpatient facilities include Family Care Specialists, a primary care network of six locations throughout Marion County; Advanced Imaging Centers with two locations; a freestanding Wound and Hyperbaric Center; a Senior Wellness Community Center; and two surgical and physician specialty practices.



The OR Technician performs direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting and assists in the maintenance of a safe, clean environment, follows specific procedure to perform terminal cleaning of the OR and prepares rooms for new patients, uses industrial cleaning agents and equipment following appropriate safety procedures. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Clean and re-make stretchers/beds.

  • Turnover all OR room between cases.

  • Stock all assigned areas.

  • Deliver specimens/blood to the lab.

  • Transport patients as directed by nurse.

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

  • Heavy lifting also required (25lbs-75lbs)

  • Act as service Coordinator for on approved service

  • Mentor/precept new scrub technician

  • Act as project leader for service projects within the perioperative dept

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and/or recent OR experience preferred

  • BLS certification on hire (American Heart Association)

  • Performs in accordance with delineated job responsibilities and satisfactorily completes a yearly evaluation based on these responsibilities

  • Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal & external customer.

B. Education: Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology preferred

GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks under the regulatory guidelines of the LPN certificate. What you will responsible for: * Demonstrates the ability to assess and recognize changes in a patient status and to provide appropriate interventions in a timely manner. * Carries out selected acts including administering of medications and treatments under the direction of a Physician or Advanced Practitioner. * Review lab results for needed provider action and follow up. * Demonstrates the ability to assess and provide the necessary care to all patients under the direct supervision of the physician/advanced practitioner. * Coordinates pre and post-operative procedures as required by specialty. * Assists with in-office procedures as needed or required by specialty. * Obtains Insurance Authorizations as needed for necessary medications. * Schedules surgical cases and pre-admit testing appointments as required per specialty. * Demonstrates critical thinking to facilitate patient care needs. * Consistently provides appropriate patient education. * Ensures maximum patient flow when working with the patient schedule while providing quality care. * Ensures patient needs are met when accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. * Performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses when needed as required by specialty. * Maintain a clean, fully stocked exam and procedure room with 100% compliance regarding cleaning and sterilization. * Accurately set up instruments and equipment according to department and clinic protocol. * Sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms based on office needs. * Accurately collects patient medical history, current complaints, adds vitals as required for patient assessment. * All other reasonable duties as assigned Qualifications What you will need: * Completion of LPN program * 2+ years preferred * Active LPN license State of Florida, current BLS This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
