The Senior O.R. Service Line Coordinator for Orthopedics develops and maintains the Orthopedic surgery program by providing essential program start up information and by implementing best practices for the Orthopedic service line including appropriate staffing, education and training of staff, selection and procurement of specialty instrumentation and equipment, communication and operationalization of surgeon preferences and practices. , and coordination of surgical patient care for the specialty. The Senior O.R. Service Line Coordinator works in conjunction with the Nursing Staff and Medical Staff to ensure the highest level of care for patients. He or she leads and coaches high performance teams and efficiencies in the O.R. Must demonstrate a strong degree of independent judgment and decision-making skills as well as creativity and resourcefulness. Must be able to complete projects in a timely manner. Must assess and evaluate care/services provided and competency and educational needs of O.R. staff relative to the specialty and proactively provide necessary education to enhance staff skills. Must be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication and develop and implement departmental protocols, policies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Surgical Services. .Must maintain an environment for performance improvement and must be responsible to adapt to organizational change and community needs.
SCHEDULE: .001 FTE PRN SHIFT: Mixed rotating weekends.
A minimum of three years experience in the operating room.
A minimum of one year of advanced preparation in the clinical specialty and management is strongly preferred.
Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
Certification (CNOR) preferred.
Los Angeles Fire and Life Safety Certification required within sixty (60) days of hire.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Masters degree preferred.
Lead and coordinate the surgery related activities of the orthopedic surgery department, including equipment selection, protocol and policy development and staff training.
Coordinate services within and among departments serving orthopedic patients.
Coordinate perioperative patient care and communication with physicians.
Provide direct patient care and surgical assistance within scope of Registered Nurse First Assistant practice and as approved by the Medical Staff Interdisciplinary Committee/Credentials Committee for allied health professionals.
Assess and communicate new and ongoing needs for surgical equipment, and operational needs in the perioperative areas.
Assess, evaluate and continually improve care/efficiencies provided and competency of employees and provide education to enhance staff skills.
Will serve as clinical consultant/resource to nursing staff and other disciplines
Market services and educate the community through seminars, print articles and interviews.
Demonstrate a strong degree of independent judgment and decision-making skills. .
Effectively presents information regarding complex issues and subjects. Helps other team members to grasp and understands issues.
