The Surgery Desk Assistant is responsible for all patient information for tracking and transport of surgery patients. This individual shall be responsible for patient charts/charge sheets for anesthesia, as well as to maintain the call schedule for surgery staff. The Assistant shall assist with entering charges, both from items borrowed by the floors, as well as items used in the OR.

The Assistant shall perform all necessary clerical functions and assisting with Patient/Guest Relations. This position may have additional duties assigned as needed.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• One year clerical experience required.

• One year hospital experience preferred.

• Business School graduate preferred.

• License / Certification:

• Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment. Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.
  
  Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated.
  
  Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency. The ability to communicate effectively with patients, guest, and hospital personnel. Knowledge of Medical Terminology Ability to work in a busy environment with many interruptions and distractions Able to effectively Communicate and understand medical terminology accurately
