Mountain View Eye Center is a premiere ophthalmic medical and surgical practice in the Northwest. As an Optometric Physician, we invite you to apply for a position as an important member of our Fairbanks physician team. You will partner with our Ophthalmologist on coordinated diagnosis, treatment and management of medical, emergency, and peri-surgical patients for our Sequim Clinic located in Fairbanks, AK. Your responsibilities will include medical patient care, organizing and providing continuing education courses, shared on-call service, and opportunities to work closely and collaborate with our medical staff and the medical and optometric physician communities.   • Licensed with the Washington State Board of Optometry
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic license certification
  • Comprehensive post-graduation experience desirable in a medical setting with commensurate diagnostic and therapeutic skills. Knowledge should include but not be limited to surgical post-operative management, anterior and posterior ocular segment disease, glaucoma, ocular trauma, and neurologic diseases.
  • Possess leadership qualities and ability
  • Willing to serve as a liaison between NWES and the optometry community
  • Demonstrate interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate interest in organizing and providing continuing education (lecturing) to local and state optometry groups as a representative of NWES
  • Support esprit de corps as a team member of professional staff
  • Interest in practicing optometry at a high standard by staying abreast of new technologies and practice patterns
  • Successful completion of an ACOE accredited residency program or one to two years of post graduation experience.

Essential Responsibilities * Performs routine procedures to obtain claimant's medical history, record vital signs and complete lab requisitions * Performs standard diagnostic procedures including but not limited to: EKGs, proficient venipuncture, urine drug testing collection and preparation of lab specimens for laboratory courier, pulmonary function test (PFTs), arterial flow Doppler studies, and other clinical diagnostic studies assigned to meet the needs of the organization * Performs housekeeping functions such as: changing exam room table paper, upkeep of cleanliness of the entire office * Chaperone during an examination Administrative Responsibilities * Front office duties such as: answering telephones, scheduling and confirming appointments, preparing schedules, data entry and filing * Reviews and edits reports in proprietary software application to ensure accuracy in context, grammar, spelling, and consistency * Review each exam report for accuracy prior to submission to the physician for final review and approval * Assists in the retrieval of diagnostic tests for scanning into propriety software application * Interfaces with operational teams and assists in the provision of medical records * Works with providers and operational teams to ensure reports are submitted timely and accurately Education & Experience * 5 years of Medical Assistant exp. (unexperienced GRADS welcome!) * Medial Assistant Diploma required. * First Aid/CPR certification required. * Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation. NOTE: This position has multiple levels; candidates will be "leveled in" based on years of experience at time of hire.
