We are seeking a talented mechanical Engineer to join our growing team, working on a state-of-the-art tool. We change the technology to meet our expectations, so we need someone who can think outside the box. The successful candidate will have system approach and proven knowledge of fine mechanism design. Experience in the field of opto-mechanics, knowledge of accurate motorized modules design and analytical knowledge in thermal design an advantage. The candidate will be part of a team which designs new and improves existing opto-mechanical systems. This is an ideal position for someone interested in a managerial growth opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design of opto-mechanical mechanisms

  • Take on mechanical engineering responsibility of opto-mechanical systems starting from requirements definition, through design, till release for production.

  • Define and execute tests as part of the design process.

  • Lead manufacturing and design activities with external vendors

  • Drive cross functional teams

Qualifications Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree/ Master's degree in mechanical engineering

  • 8+ years experience in as a mechanical development engineer. (Semi/display an advantage).

  • Ability to define and write specifications.

  • Ability to analyze data and present summaries.

  • Ability to work with a broad peer group and cross-functional teams. Also, Ability to work independently.

  • Fluent in CAD systems

Distinguishing Characteristics This class differs from the Associate Mechanical Engineer – Automotive Systems in that the latter works under supervision as a journey engineer on assigned tasks or as a project supervisor. The former class works independently and has total technical responsibility for transit fleet design specifications. Classification Bargaining Unit: TAEA Essential Job Functions Typical Tasks * Plans, organizes and directs engineering work in support of Fleet Maintenance Division; * Supervises and works with engineers and technicians on the development of new vehicle specifications; * Provides technical engineering solutions to special problems; * Conducts reliability and performance studies; * Evaluates new equipment design and maintainability; * Makes recommendations regarding the merits of design alternatives; * Prepares work bid specifications; * Assists in the preparation of budgeting estimates for new and replacement equipment; * Analyzes cost of alternative maintenance strategies; * Prepares technical reports; * Provides overall supervision of the mechanical instruction program; * Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Employment Standards Training and experience equivalent to graduation from college with major work in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or related field and five years of professional mechanical engineering experience in automotive systems or related field including experience in a capacity offering opportunity to demonstrate supervisory ability. Registration as a professional Mechanical Engineer.
