Key Qualifications

  • Proficient in one or more optical modeling tools (sequential & non-sequential): Zemax, LightTools, Code V, and etc.

  • Familiar with optical and imaging science, including lens selection, image sensor selection, illumination design, color & spectral characteristics.

  • Familiar with optical metrology tools for imaging quality assessment, sensor evaluation, optical system calibration

  • Programming skills is a plus in one or more of the following: OpenCV/MATLAB/Python/C++

  • Knowledge of imaging sensor, pipeline, and imaging process is a plus

  • Knowledge of photonics devices (LED, lasers, optical sensing, optical modulation, and etc.) is a plus

  • Knowledge of coherent optical metrology systems is a plus

  • Self-motivated, responsible, excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills


You will be responsible for the instrument and camera design to carry out calibration and performance validation of Apple display products. You will work on the instrument development, validation and production deployment during new product introduction (NPI) stage, with the support from SW/HW cross-functional teams.

  • Scope and define optical instrumentation for display calibration and metrology stations during NPI

  • Modeling of optical instruments & cameras' performances and specifications

  • Work with optical instrument vendors to select, customize, improve, and/or design optical metrology instruments

  • Lead design review, specify and qualify optical metrology instruments, from component to system level

  • Deploy and verify instrument's performances and specifications throughout the NPI cycle in factory, together with station engineers

We are seeking a Tissue Optics Scientist with significant experience in analysis of datasets from human studies. You will join a team of innovative scientists and engineers to design, validate, and implement the next generation of bio-sensing technologies. You will have experience with analysis and interpretation of datasets collected from optical sensing devices that interact with skin and other biological media. Experience with a variety of regression frameworks, statistical design of experiments, and physical interpretation of datasets from human studies are required. Key Qualifications * Significant experience (at least 5 years post-PhD) with analysis of multiple-sensor datasets from human studies. * Experience with interpreting sensor data from a variety of platforms to better understand light-tissue and interactions, tissue physiology, effects of the human-instrument interface, and other sources of measurement error * Experience with statistical design of experiments to elucidate system performance characteristics * Experience with system verification/validation in human studies * Hands-on and analytical experience with a variety of skin characterization systems (e.g., various imaging, spectroscopic, acoustic, optical scattering, etc.) is strongly desired * Expertise with modeling instrument-tissue interactions using physical models, Monte Carlo methods, etc., is desirable * Experience with modeling of physiological systems is a plus Description The responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to: * Design, analyze, and report on human/user studies conducted with prototype measurement platforms and associated instrumentation * Be a primary resource for initial triage and assessment of human-studies datasets during study execution * Work with a team of scientists to conduct, analyze, and interpret simulations of prototype systems interacting with biological media * Analysis and optimization of new measurement techniques * Remain current with relevant scientific and professional literature and activities in leading academic laboratories Education & Experience Ph.D. in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field plus five or more years of industry or postdoctoral research experience or equivalent.
