Position Vacancy Announcement
Florida A&M University's Department of Campus Safety and Security Office of Parking and Transportation is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for an OPS Shuttle Bus Driver vacancy. The Shuttle Bus Driver will be responsible for transporting the campus community to and from various locations on and off-campus following a scheduled route.
Responsibilities
The Shuttle Bus Driver follows the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops; Regularly checks vehicle safety such as tires, brakes, turn signals, and mechanical equipment; Monitors and reports fuel consumption, mileage, and passenger numbers; Observes safety and traffic rules; and enforces conduct and safety rules on the bus.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and one (1) year of related experience; or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to one (1) year of related experience. CDL license and passenger endorsement required.
Recommended Competencies
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively;
Ability to operate a 12-passenger with 2 disabled passenger seating shuttle bus or a 25-passenger shuttle bus;
Ability to carry out repair of minor faults and report major problems, accidents, or damage to the vehicle to the Director of OPT;
Excellent knowledge of roads and routes;
Confident driving skills;
Clean driving record;
Knowledge and understanding of traffic regulations;
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices;
Excellent customer service skills; and,
Understanding of health and safety issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a Bus Driver is preferred.
Anticipated Salary Range
The hiring salary is $16.00/hr.
Pay Plan
This is an Other Personnel Support (OPS)/Temporary position.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.

Section 110.1128, Florida Statutes, prohibits employment by the State (including re-hire after a break in service) of any male born after October 1, 1962, who failed to register with the Selective Service System, under the provisions of the U.S. Military Selective Service Act, during the person's period of eligibility (ages 18 through 25). Additionally, if currently employed by the State, this law prohibits the promotion of such person. You may be required to provide documentation.
