This is an OPS Senior Licensed Practical Nurse (SLPN) position assigned to the West Palm Beach Health Center, serving a large population. This position has specific assignments in the Family Planning and STD, and function in all clinics including but not limited to Maternity, GYN, IDC (HIV), Refugee field areas as needed.
This position will travel to provide services at another satellite Center, work Saturdays and or a weekly late evening clinic on a rotation basis at the discretion of Administration through the Health Access Office.
Responsible to obtains and records patient health and social histories for Family Planning, STD, IDC (HIV), Sexual Health and Gynecology patients. Provides HIV Counseling, PPD testing, health education, and coordination of services for clinic patients. Consults with members of multi-disciplinary team as indicated to coordinate medical care.
Serve as a resource person, giving explanations and collaborating with providers to give appropriate referrals. Assists the clinics in prepping charts, ensuring ordered results are in, maintain spreadsheets on abnormal results for the Jupiter, Northeast and West Palm Beach Clinic. Assists the registered nurse and/or physician in providing care and administering treatment to patients in all clinic areas.
Administers medication orally, subcutaneous or intramuscular as ordered by the physician and with the supervision of the physician or registered nurse. Assists the registered nurse in providing health information to patients/families and completing appropriate professional workers in assigned clinical area.
Documents accurately according to professional nursing standard and the health department policy. Assists with laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests as indicted. Coordinates duties with the other sub-professional workers in assigned clinical area.

Under the supervision of the Nursing Consultant assist to maintain tickler files for needed report on PAP smears, mammograms and immunization results. Assist with data collection and documentation as required for reporting purposes.
Assist in completing medical chart audits in a timely manner for all clinics with accurate recording.
Participates in scheduled team meetings for discussion and management of patient care. Participates in planned in-service education sessions and Quality Assurance program and all assigned staff meetings. Operate equipment used in clinic such as electrocardiogram, audiometer, and application of oxygen when ordered, nebulizer and pulse oximeter.
Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
This occupation requires licensure as a Practical Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice Nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
