Job Description:
A Research Technician position is being sought out with the potential to work up to 40 hours per week in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. In the Kopinke lab, we study how intercellular communication is required to build, maintain and repair adult tissues.
We are a vibrant and collegial community, that is passionate about science as well as all the beautiful things life has to offer (see more at Kopinkelab.com). Your main duties would be to perform laboratory techniques including tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and to assist with image analysis data and collection. This is a great opportunity for someone who is seeking a gap year between graduate and/or medical school. In fact, we had multiple technicians, who published well and, as a consequence, continued their careers in either medical or graduate school. Please come and join us in making new discoveries!
Expected Salary:
$18 to $22 per hour, based on experience and skills.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required. Requires strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions with good work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications:
Full-time work schedule preferred but will consider a part-time work schedule. Experience in these techniques is highly desirable:
Basic knowledge of genetics and cell biology
Knowledge in molecular biological and histological procedures and techniques including tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy
For the purpose of data analysis, knowledge of specific software such as GraphPad, Excel, ImageJ and Photoshop
A background in mouse husbandry and tissue dissections
