OPS - Ag Assistant

Classification Title: OPS-Ag Assistant Job Description:

Incumbent will participate in general day-to-day caretaking needs of the Center's grove acreage. At times, incumbent may also participate in specific research related projects on an as needed basis.

Mowing groves with tractor and 10' Bushhog

Spraying groves with truck mounted or pull behind sprayer

Fertilizing groves with tractor and pull behind fertilize spreader and 3 point shot spreader

Disk groves and new land with tractor and hydraulic disk

Assist in field plot maintenance and layout

Preparation of field plots, layout, installing irrigation and planting

Harvesting of field plots and yield counts

Cultivating of field plots

Pruning of field plots

Hand fertilizing of field plots

Maintenance or irrigation systems and checking of microjets

Calibrating of equipment for field research trails

Maintenance of Equipment and Vehicles

Oil Changes

Greasing

Filter Changing and cleaning

Minor mechanical needs to both equipment and vehicles

Must be able to lift 50-lb. bag fertilizer.

Must have valid Florida Drivers' License.

Expected Salary:

$13.50 per hour
