The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the OPS Administrative Assistant position under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Access.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude; Candidates should be able to assist the director and all visitors to the Engineering Learning Community, providing polite and professional assistance via phone, mail, and e-mail, making reservations or travel arrangements, and generally being a helpful and positive presence in the workplace; To be successful as an Administrative Assistant, candidates should be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate; They should always be prepared and responsive, willing to meet each challenge directly; Administrative Assistants must be comfortable with computers, general office tasks, and excel at both verbal and written communication; and Most notably, Administrative Assistants should have a genuine desire to meet the needs of others.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma and two (2) years of related experience.

Recommended Competencies

Ability to perform office tasks, such as filing, generating reports and presentations, setting up for meetings, and reordering supplies;

Ability to schedule appointments and prevent time conflict;

Ability to make travel arrangements, such as booking flights, cars, and making hotel and reservations;

Ability to answer phone calls and routing callers to the appropriate party;

Knowledge on how to use Microsoft Office, especially Excel;

Ability to use computers to generate reports, transcribe minutes from meetings;

Knowledge of computers, and typing skills; and

Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, email, and mail.

Anticipated Salary Range

The hiring salary will be between $17 to $20 per hour.

Pay Plan

This is an Other Personnel Support (OPS)/Temporary position.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.

Only United States (U.S.) citizens or aliens who have a legal right to work in the U.S. are eligible for employment. Federal law requires proof of your authorization to work in the United States. You will be required to provide proof of your identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of employment.

Section 110.1128, Florida Statutes, prohibits employment by the State (including re-hire after a break in service) of any male born after October 1, 1962, who failed to register with the Selective Service System, under the provisions of the U.S. Military Selective Service Act, during the person's period of eligibility (ages 18 through 25). Additionally, if currently employed by the State, this law prohibits the promotion of such person. You may be required to provide documentation.
