VCA Aurora Animal Hospital is excited to share the groundbreaking news of our latest addition-Ophthalmology Service services and we're actively seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join us!

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmology Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist our veterinary ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care to our patients. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for animal care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians with ophthalmic examinations and procedures, including preparing patients and equipment.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.

  • Perform diagnostic tests, including tonometry, and Schirmer tear tests.

  • Assist in monitoring patients before, during, and after ophthalmic procedures.

  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all patient information is up-to-date.

  • Educate pet owners on post-operative care and medication administration.

  • Ensure the ophthalmology suite is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.

  • Provide compassionate care and handling of all patients.

  • Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the ophthalmology clinic's calendar.

  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide seamless and coordinated care.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience as a Veterinary Assistant

  • 2+ years experience with monitoring anesthesia

  • Passion for client communication and education

  • Ability to lift and restrain animals up to 30 pounds.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity with flexible scheduling. We utilize a 4 x 10 hour shift schedule.
