About the Job

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Ophthalmic Technician assists ophthalmologists and optometrists with eye examinations. Duties include performing various vision tests, collecting medical data, monitoring and maintaining patient flow, scribing, patient education, and assisting physicians with various procedures; as well as assisting with various administrative duties within the Ophthalmology Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Minimum high school graduate or GED, or equivalent education and experience.

Experience: Prefer one year of Experience or more

Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required; however recommend completion of ophthalmic scribe course, ophthalmic assistant certification or ophthalmic technician certification through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology, graduate of accredited optometric school or foreign graduate of medical school.

About the Job Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the department Supervisor, determines proper method of sterilization according to established guidelines, and sterilizes all instruments and related equipment. Receives soiled case carts and processes contents in accordance with established standards. Assembles instruments according to count sheet. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Licensure, Certification, Registration: none required. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Basic computer skills, medical terminology, manual dexterity, ability to read and follow instructions, fully trained in instrumentation, sterilization and decontamination techniques. In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards. Experience: 1-2 years related experience preferred. Shift NGT Hours are: 10:00pm - 6:30 am Rotating weekends and holdiays shifts are required.
