Job Description:
Work with ophthalmologists to assist during eye surgery and setting up and performing maintenance on equipment. In addition, ophthalmology technologists often perform diagnostic testing, including measuring a patient's vision. Technologists in this career field must be familiar with ophthalmic pharmacology and understand the use of corrective lenses. Interviews patients for ocular and medical history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies and family history.
Performs initial work up including visual testing, color vision testing, retinoscopy, and refraction
Performs various diagnostic tests and measurements including A-Scans, diagnostic ultrasounds, keratometry, lensometry, tonometry, and visual fields
Reviews patient records for completeness.
Maintains supplies and equipment in examining rooms.
Performs related technical and clerical work
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
JCAHPO Certification
1 year experience as an Opthalmic Tech
