Shift Details: Ophthalmic Assistant
Casual, up to 25 hours some weeks
Days needed:
Monday all day
Wednesday all day
Thursday AM or all day depending on the weeks

Job Duties: Ophthalmic Assistant
In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering exceptional patient care under the guidance of our ophthalmologists and optometrists. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations, refractions, some diagnostic testing, assisting in laser vision correction and minor procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation and data collection according to established protocols. You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory, cleaning instruments, and organizing examination rooms to uphold a professional and efficient clinical environment.
Required Qualifications: Ophthalmic Assistant
High school education or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant course OR completion of one year of post-secondary education in an allied health field OR one year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (BLS with skills assessment or approved BLS) within six months of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
Preferred Qualifications: Ophthalmic Assistant
Prior experience in ophthalmic or optometric office preferred.
Completion of an accredited ophthalmic assistant course preferred.
Certification as an ophthalmic assistant, technician or technologist preferred.
Once certification is achieved, it is required to be maintained.
