Job Summary

The Plant Operator is responsible for plant production operations/maintenance and repair of all plant fixed equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate facility in a production mode, maintaining established efficiencies

  • Examine and diagnose operational problems, and repairs according to accepted methods, establishes

  • Conducts preventative maintenance practices

  • Ability to be multi-diversified in performing other related duties such as maintenance/repair, and yard loading when needed

  • Able to understand, interpret, and execute instructions given in both verbal and written form

  • Schedule or call for repairs and parts

  • Recognize potentially hazardous situations

  • Adhere to all CEMEX, O.S.H.A., and M.S.H.A rules and regulations at all times

  • Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds

  • Meet or exceed company safety standards

  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in operating and maintaining an aggregate facility

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent

  • Welding and cutting experience highly preferred

  • Core understanding of conveyor belts, shaker screens, sand screws, and cyclone operations

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree

  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently and 70 pounds occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. Job involves walking or standing for long periods of time

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment

Core Responsibilities * Performs pre-operational inspection and checks all safeties on all equipment on assigned line. * Be able to set up and monitor all associated equipment on assigned line; scale, metal detector, check scale, code dater, etc. * Be able to operate and monitor either packaging machine in Operators absence. * Performs weight and O2 level checks as required. * Checks and records use of in-process material. * Tallies and records daily production. * Performs and records metal detector checks. * Leads, trains and monitors work of assigned crew. * Supplies all lines with packaging supplies & WIP. * Wraps & delivers finished goods to connector dock. * Attends safety training classes and assists in training crew.
