ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $45,000.00 - 54,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins Streets Department is looking for an Equipment Operator to work on our Patching and Paving Crews. Our Equipment Operators perform work related to day-to-day operations and functions of the Streets Departments including minor and major construction of streets and alleys; snow and ice removal; and crushing recycling operations. Operators maintain and operate equipment which may include front-end loader, bulldozer, skid steer, dump truck, backhoe, tractor, street sweeper, and paving equipment. This is a full-time, benefited position with an anticipated base salary range of $45,000-$54,000 with opportunities for overtime which is paid at time and a half. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Operates and maintains equipment which may include front-end loader, bulldozer, skid steer, dump truck, backhoe, farm tractors, pavement marking & sign equipment, street sweeper, paving equipment, mowing or other vegetation management equipment, and other heavy equipment as needed.

  • Patch broken or eroded pavement; remove debris from roadway.

  • May construct and maintain pavement markings / signs, and signals and participate in traffic control activities.

  • Perform snow removal and operate snow removal equipment.

  • Input daily work data into a computer.

  • Perform general building maintenance.

  • May train and oversee other operators or hourly employees.

  • Shift work and emergency responses activities may be required.

  • Ability to perform basic math functions.

  • Ability to adhere to safety requirements and identify safety concerns and improvements

  • May require basic welding skills.

Required Qualifications

MinimumPreferredHigh School Diploma or GED

Experience Requirements

  • 0-2 years related experience. Minimum age 18.

Certifications/Licenses/Specialized Training

  • Class B Commercial Driver License Required. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations require that the individual(s) selected for this position must successfully pass a controlled substance test, as well as a DOT physical examination. Current City employees transferring from a non-safety sensitive position to a safety sensitive position will be required to successfully pass these tests and the physical examination. May require Workzone Certification within a reasonable time frame from time of hire. May require IMSA Level I certification within a reasonable time frame from hire. May require Class A CDL for some assignments. May require commercial pesticide application license within a reasonable time frame from time of hire. #INDHP
