This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of aseptic / terminally sterilized / polymer (clean rooms) and/or non-aseptic (Pilot Plant) processes and procedures for pharmaceutical and/or polymer manufacturing (development/engineering, clinical-phase and/or commercial).
Medicinal products manufactured as above are regulated by a variety of private and government entities, jurisdictions, departments, and authorities throughout the world; as such, all work performed must comply with those regulations which include law, common practice, and contractual obligations and are legally enforceable.
RESPONSIBILITIES
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: (The major activities or end results necessary to fulfill the position requirements on an ongoing basis)
Clean Room Conduct and Upkeep with minimal supervision
Demonstrate personal proficiency of aseptic technique with minimal supervision while working in Grade D/C cleanrooms and Grade A filler/isolators
Demonstrate ability to consistently clean and sanitize clean rooms to levels required and measured by the quality microbiology department
Demonstrate ability to consistently clean and sanitize production equipment and assets through manual or automated means which include hand wiping, clean in place, steam in place, or other mechanisms of cleaning
Actively participate in general area housekeeping and stocking of consumable supplies; keeping simple inventories and cycle counts of consumables
Seek out and identify opportunities related to the maintenance, calibration, and improvement of company facilities, equipment, and procedures
Perform other duties as required by supervisor
Accurately Perform Manufacturing Duties with direct supervision
Routinely train on and then execute work instructions which include forms, logs, test protocols, GLP or GMP batch records, and other paper or electronic records associated with manufacture of medicinal products
Perform complex, multi-step solution preparations, filtrations, or chromatography that support final formulation or delivery system
Operate PLC controlled equipment, including setting, reading, and adjusting critical process parameters as directed in procedures
Assemble and disassemble precision equipment on multiple unit operations; safe and effective use of basic hand tools required
Prepare for and execute in-process environmental monitoring of microbial and total air particulate in compliance with quality microbial department procedures
Compliance
Demonstrate the ability to follow procedures without mistake or error and to take accountability for identifying and escalating non-conforming situations appropriately as defined by procedure
Interact with auditors in the professional and knowledgeable manner that reflects our emphasis on safety, compliance, and quality; demonstrate high ethical standards expected of an employee manufacturing a human medicinal product
Ability to understand and explain the basic unit operations carried out in daily duties manufacturing extrusion, microsphere, liposome or polymerization products
Perform responsibilities in compliance with the quality systems as described in the Evonik BHM Labs Quality Manual which include strict adherence to safety practices and procedures including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for the type of hazard and exposure potential, health and environmental policies, procedures and directives
REQUIREMENTS
AA Degree in technical area and 0-2 years relevant industry experience as determined by management
Basic computer skills
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to perform calculations when supplied with the equation.
Ability to read and follow detailed written instructions
Thorough understanding of all general lab glassware
Basic understanding of system controls and data logging software
