The Badger Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating as an alternative to mechanical equipment or hand-digging. The Badger Hydrovac uses pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely, precisely and cleanly excavate around utilities and pipelines. Seventy percent or more of the job's work time is spent operating the on-board hydro-vacuum system outside the truck performing non-destructive excavation around sensitive underground piping and cables. Other hydrovac work consists of tank entry, cleaning and vacuuming, mobilization of equipment, truck maintenance, safety meetings, etc.

The job requires typical construction type hours with some weeks being less than 40 hours and other weeks very busy requiring 50 plus hours. Badger is a 24/7 operation.

Travel for short term out of town work assignments and/or training is to be expected. Training will be provided for people with a desire to succeed.

Specific Duties:

  • Operate Badger Daylighting Corp equipment in a safe and professional manner.

  • Properly document all Company, Federal, State, and Customer documentation/paperwork as required by law and or established policy in a clear and legible manner.

  • Able to effectively and professionally communicate with on-sight customer representative to locate least intrusive and safest place to park company equipment while on job sight.

  • Able to lead and direct subordinate personnel to perform duties/tasks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.

  • Able to troubleshoot and as the need arises perform minor repairs to equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess and exhibit a strong safety acumen. Safety tickets are an asset.

  • Previous hydrovac, trucking, vacuum truck or other related industrial experience preferred.

  • CDL A or B license is required.

  • 12 months Heavy Equipment Operation experience preferred.

  • OSHA10 safety card certification is required. (If applicant does not hold an OSHA10 certification, Badger will pay for computer based training with applicant completing on-line course within 5 days of hiring on their own. Certification is the property of the applicant.)

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours. (Due to client schedule, our operators may not work every day but must be flexible for irregular hours).

  • Underground utility or constructions experience a plus.

  • Mechanical inclination an asset.

  • Must be able to follow direction, work independently and demonstrate a strong customer service focus.

Essential Physical Functions/Requirements of the Job:

  • Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty.

  • Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl.

  • Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work in all outdoor elements for extended periods of time.

  • Confined Space Entry may be required to accomplish tasks for some clients when applicable.

  • Be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

  • Must be able to climb ladders, and work from stationary platforms from elevated heights.

  • Must be capable of working extended hours and variable shifts

JOB OVERVIEW: Answer internal and external telephone calls in a friendly and courteous manner, direct calls through the hotel switchboard. Input wake up calls and messages in to the system, retrieve messages as requested. Actively coordinate communications within the hotel including emergency procedures, alarms, life safety, natural disaster, and shuttle van services, acting as a liaison to all appropriate local Emergency Services. REPORTS TO: Supervisor / Front Office Manager ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Promptly answer telephone calls, greet callers with a positive and clear voice. Listen to ascertain the correct extension. Reading and using a moderately complex computer console, direct calls to appropriate line. Requires sitting in a confined space for long periods of time to continuously perform essential functions. 2. Transcribe complete messages and repeat information to verify accuracy. Input and retrieve messages from the computer as requested. Read and verbally recite exact messages for guests. 3. Receive wake up call information, input cautiously into the automated wake-up system and verbally confirm time to guest. 4. Page guests and patrons using the public address system in a courteous and clear manner. 5. Act as dispatcher for security, guest services and property operations associates. Provide timely information via paging system and two way radios to associates in response to emergencies and guest requests such as plumbing problems, airport shuttle service, etc. 6. Briefly answer basic inquiries, time, extension numbers, outlet hours, etc. 7. Immediately answer the emergency line, listen to details to identify nature of problem and respond appropriately in accordance with established procedures. Initiate emergency response as necessary and legibly document pertinent details. 8. Remain calm and polite especially during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity. Resolve complications and complaints such as missed wake up calls or missed messages using previous experience and good judgment. 9. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis. 10. Perform any other job related duties as assigned. Assist with room service orders, concierge functions or bellman as needed. Cross train at the Front Desk to assist when needed. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have the ability to communicate in English. Micros or property management computer experience preferred. Bi-Lingual a plus. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Ability to effectively deal with associates and customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information. Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
