Job Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Assist in providing commissary operations and services to assigned KCN Commissary location

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver individually packaged orders to inmates at specified correctional facilities with the supervision of a correctional officer in a timely and efficient manner including but not limited to

  • Positively identify the inmate

  • Obtain signature of inmate on 2 ply order receipt

  • Forward 2nd copy of order receipt back to inmate

  • Note any and all discrepancies or damages on both copies of order receipt

  • Retain signed copy of order receipt

  • Retain and dispose of all plastic bags and trash generated in process

  • Account for all signed receipts

  • Responsible for sending required information and reports, including timesheets, to Regional Distribution Center.

  • Maintain all KCN areas/equipment/products in a neat, clean, and orderly manner and maintain American Correctional Association & American Jail Association standards/guidelines when applicable.

  • Attend orientation and training, annual on-site security classes and remain current in certifications as required by the Facility.

  • Follow all the policies and procedures outlined in the KCN Best Business Practices Guide at all times.

  • Complete miscellaneous duties assigned by KCN Commissary Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be a self-starter who can work well with people in a correctional facility in a professional, upbeat manner.

  • Ability to work in a correctional environment.

  • Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations.

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Must qualify for correctional facility security clearance.

  • Must pass drug screening test.

  • Must pass background check.

  • Familiarity with computers (including Microsoft Office programs) preferred.

Overview Our Mental Health Secretary provides clerical and administrative support to the Mental Health Department. Maintains all mental health records according to policy and procedure, including maintaining confidentiality of records. Qualifications Education: * High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience: * Has a broad range of skills including time management, word processing, typing, filing and other clerical skills * Ability to interact with diverse health care professionals and patients Licenses/Certifications: * Current CPR certification * Any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract Responsibilities * Responsible to execute secretarial/clerical duties for staff as assigned by the Mental Health Coordinator/Mental Health Director. Responsible for informing the Mental Health Coordinator/Mental Health Director of any difficulties in handling assigned work, so priorities can be established to ensure essential tasks are completed * Responsible to interrelate and work effectively with all mental health staff, the Facility staff and the patient population as required * Responsible to abide by the security regulations of the Facility and the rules/regulations of the institution * Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with The Company and Facility policy, as well as the standards of the American Psychological Association, National Commission on Correctional Health Care, and the American Correctional Association * Prepare, duplicate and distribute written reports as requested by Mental Health Coordinator or Mental Health Director (e.g. staff meeting minutes, staff schedules, Special Needs lists, and correspondence) * Maintain relevant mental health departmental files in an orderly manner * Monitor availability of mental health staff to facilitate timely staff notification of situations needing attention * Monitor patients who come to the mental health area for appointments. Informs corrections officers of inappropriate patient behavior requiring attention * Provide telephone coverage, ensuring polite, cooperative responses to caller(s), accurate documentation of messages, and timely routing of messages to staff members * Ensure timely pick-up and distribution of departmental mail * Maintain departmental list required to monitor activities of the services (e.g., counseling waiting list, group lists, Clinical Services Reports) * Formulate and distribute emergency "on-call" schedule for mental health staff * Monitors office supply and testing materials inventory to facilitate appropriate ordering of supplies * Monitor the general maintenance of mental health department. Updates information on department's bulletin board(s). Notifies maintenance department when repairs are needed * Provides clerical services for staff psychiatrist as requested (e.g., preparation of patient passes, pulling files for clinics) * Complies with employee standards of the Facility. Compliance includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of a working environment and personal appearance consistent with professional responsibilities, development of harmonious working relationships, and timely notification of supervisory personnel of absences from institution * Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. * Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations. * Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations. * Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details. * Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis. * Post orders, if applicable, per site contract. * Perform other duties as assigned.
