Hoover Metropolitan Complex is a world-class, multi-sport and event facility located in Hoover, AL just 10 miles south of Birmingham. The state-of-the-art Finley Center includes more than 83,000 square feet of uninterrupted multi-purpose space and Hoover RV Park features 170 pull-through spaces with utility hookups. The outdoor complex features five NCAA regulation-size baseball/softball fields, five multi-purpose fields suitable for NCAA regulation soccer, football, and lacrosse, 16 hard tennis courts, a playground, and splash pad. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Team Member will be responsible for a variety of duties dependent upon the need for the day while providing participants with a quality program experience. This position is an active part of the conversion/changeover process before, during and after events. Duties require converting the facility and assisting with any event-oriented preparation/setup for shows or sporting events to run safely and efficiently.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Provide courteous and friendly service to all guests and staff

  • Be responsive to guest concerns and direct to appropriate manager to resolve

  • Enforce facility policies and procedures

  • Have general knowledge regarding program options and facility events

  • Assist other departments as necessary

  • Complete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by management

  • Setup and take down of basketball courts, staging, risers, and other event related items

  • Ensure correct equipment is available for all games

  • Monitor play areas including turf and courts

  • Keep supervisor informed of issues and updates

  • Respond to all incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercations

  • Complete and file corresponding paperwork as necessary

  • Assist with daily maintenance and upkeep of department equipment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of ages from preschool thru adult

  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays and long hours) and regular attendance is necessary

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

  • Must have excellent guest service skills

  • Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Ability to remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situations

  • Must be respectful and friendly to our athletes, guests, visitors, spectators, leaders and fellow team members

  • Must work well with others

  • Must take personal initiative for the betterment of the team and facility

  • Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of others

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs. waist high

  • Will be required to stand for extended periods of time

  • Will be required to work indoors and outdoors year-round

  • Must be able to work independently in a busy environment

  • Must comply with safety and health code standards

  • Facility has intermittent noise

  • Must wear proper uniform

  • Able to run/walk as needed

PREFERRED:

  • General sports knowledge

  • Able to work electric scoreboard

POSITION SUMMARY The Events Team Member provides the first point of contact for all guests. The Events Team Member is expected to provide excellent guest service to all guests and to always display a vast amount of knowledge of the facility's programs and offerings. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Guest Services * Event ticket and wristband concessions * Greet guests and provide information and wayfinding as needed * Provide courteous and friendly first-in-class service to all guests * Register guests for leagues, camps, clinics, drop-ins, etc. * Be knowledgeable about facility programs (format, pricing, meeting dates/times) * Operate multi-line phones * Record and file waivers and event information * Record event scores (tournaments/leagues) and print game sheets on a daily basis * Maintain confidentiality with guest and Team Member information * Resolve all guest concerns and complaints and/or direct to appropriate Manager * Know and enforce the facility's policies and procedures * Complete special projects, daily assignments and other duties as directed by management Event Coordination * Assist with scheduling and coordinating all facility events and parties * Ensure all party details are executed as planned and tracked: with detailed and organized files tracking party reservations, monies collected, waivers collected, food orders, party bags, etc. and that all details for parties are completed accurately and timely * Communicate clearly and timely with Manager(s)-On-Duty (MOD), gym attendants and party hosts to ensure proper setup, coordination of activities, and cleanup for all parties * Maintaining inventory of paper goods, balloons, helium, party bags, giveaways and order supplies as needed * Adhere to party manual including party process, procedures and standard game/activity curriculum * Ensure guest satisfaction and a high level of guest service by providing timely and clear communication with party host about all party details * Distribute collateral materials (flyers, etc.) to cross promote all facility programs; maintain flyers in facility for parties, distribute to guests, program participants and cross market, as appropriate * Support social marketing strategy to ensure optimal event promotion parties are promoted on local sites MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays and long hours) and regular attendance necessary * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written * Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment * Must have excellent guest service skills * Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills * Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situations * Must be respectful and friendly to our athletes, guests, visitors, spectators, leaders and fellow Team Members * Must work well with others * Must take personal initiative for the betterment of the team and venue * Commitment to the safety and well-being of others * Customer service and cash handling experience preferred or quick study WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Must be able to lift 30 pounds waist high * May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend * Will be required to operate a computer * Facility has intermittent noise PREFERRED * Have a basic understanding of sports * Customer service experience * Event experience Sfa|Sfm Hoover AL
