Job Description:

Mid to senior level software engineer to join the team responsible for the design, development, production, integration and life cycle support of the Torpedo Systems Group (TSG) products used aboard Navy submarines, ships, and aircraft. The TSG designs, develops, demonstrates, produces, assembles, tests and delivers torpedo arrays and electronic assemblies. The TSG team works with the Navy, internal production staff and the representatives from other companies to advance torpedo performance and lower production costs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will help our team develop and maintain our embedded real-time software application running under Linux and VxWorks. The preferred candidate will demonstrate a high degree of skill both at the detailed low level hardware interface and the high level architectural abstraction layers. Team members help translate requirements into reality by applying modern software engineering techniques and processes to create high quality applications. Effective team members are independently motivated to complete tasks while participating in the evolution of the application.

BS in Computer Science or similar degree
5 years experience

Responsible for the design, development, production, integration and life cycle support of the Torpedo Systems Group (TSG) products used aboard Navy submarines, ships, and aircraft. The TSG designs, develops, demonstrates, produces, assembles, tests and delivers torpedo arrays and electronic assemblies. The TSG team works with the Navy, internal production staff and representatives from other companies to advance torpedo performance and lower production costs through engineering and automation. Technical experience in the use and development of production automation tools, equipment, and techniques preferred but not required. Duties and Responsibilities * Support a team comprised of design, system engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and production associates in order to develop and demonstrate modern process automation technologies and methodologies used to automate specific aspects of the torpedo production process. * Develop new software components in C/C++ or Java to meet program needs. * Perform thorough Testing of software components to prepare for integration in a larger system. * Conduct software component integration to ensure end-to-end system functionality. * Research and develop software specifications and develop detailed solutions to meet these specifications using modern automation techniques and equipment. * Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain software issues to program. * Assist in developing conceptual designs and documenting software performance requirements. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Candidates should have a process automation background, technical acumen, an educational background and expertise (experience preferred) in software development. Candidates should be able to rapidly adapt to handling software issues found in system integration labs, field environments and during production; and be able to steadily develop knowledge/expertise across the various tactical baselines and platforms. Successful candidates will be reliable and motivated, understand automation systems, and possess troubleshooting skills and strong written and oral communication skills. Education/Experience B.S. (or higher) degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required. Greater than 5 years software experience required.
