Job Description

Administrative Faculty Contract. Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible.

This is a temporary position dependent upon grant funding. The position is being filled through an emergency appointment. Appointment to the role on a permanent basis is contingent upon meeting additional recruitment requirements

Western Nevada College ACCEL College and Career Readiness program seeks a highly motivated, innovative professional with the ability to implement procedures in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Responsible for management and administration of programmatic and day-to-day operations of the ACCEL College and Career Readiness department. Requires excellent customer service skills, exceptional organization and communication skills, and the ability to provide coaching and training on processes and procedures. Additional qualities of a successful candidate include computer literacy (especially proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and virtual communication platforms), ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, critical and creative thinking skills and the ability to work well without supervision.

Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management for all day-to-day operations of the ACCEL department.

  • Train and supervise support navigators and work study students.

  • Deliver procedural guidance and support to staff and instructors.

  • Monitor budget, maintain inventory and place orders as necessary.

  • Identify opportunities for process and office management improvements and design and implement new systems and ensure they are implemented appropriately.

  • Provide administrative support as necessary, including scheduling group meetings, maintaining calendars, conducting research, drafting letters, and creating reports.

  • Foster an inviting, organized space that is welcoming to students, teachers, and staff.

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to all staff and visitors of the department including answering phones, responding to inquiries and providing accurate information.

  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, state reports, and other data as required for analysis and program improvement.

  • Maintain excellent records and ensures that shared data and information is accessible, organized, and up to date with most current information.

  • Assist with bookkeeping, purchasing, and reporting for ACCEL grants.

  • Attend department meetings and take notes, create agendas, and keep minutes.

  • Reserve spaces and schedule rooms for classes.

  • Generate and maintain master calendar.

  • Understand and respect diversity and promotes and inclusive and equitable environment.

  • Promote adult education and present a positive image to all stakeholders, community partners, WNC students, and employees.

  • Participate in campus and program events.

  • Participate in program assessment and program review.

  • Serve on college and NSHE committees.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree (i.e., AA+3 or 4 yrs related professional experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior office management/coordination experience a plus.

  • Higher education experience and grant experience.

  • Experience with outreach events and activities.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Minimum Starting Salary Information:

This position is at a salary grade B. The minimum of the placement range is $54,634.72. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on education and experience. WNC's placement range falls within the NSHE salary schedule: NSHE ADMINISTRATIVE SALARY SCHEDULE

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees

WNC is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
