Position Summary

The Operations Support Specialist is responsible for a wide variety of daily operational support functions throughout the Operations Support Department to include providing customer account support, GL account balancing, processing legal claims, account verifications, research requests and adjustments to accounts. Higher-level position also performs document imaging tasks to include quality control of imaged documents and maintaining of the document imaging program, Vison Content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform various GL account balancing on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

  • Manage the front desk to ensure internal and external customers are greeted and assisted in a timely professional manner.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining updated procedures.

  • Process mail-in and express courier deposits and payments.

  • Maintain accurate daily balancing through Teller Insight.

  • Review daily reports within Image Centre to ensure quality control.

  • Safe Deposit Box maintenance and audit.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Specific Responsibilities

Operations Support Specialist I

  • Processing levies.

  • Processing subpoenas.

  • Processing research requests.

  • Dormant activation/report review.

  • Mail-in payment processing.

  • Express courier deposit payment processing and monthly billing.

  • Stop payment verifications (Check and ACH).

  • Return mail processing.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.


Operations Support Specialist I

  • One year of direct experience in Operations Support processing or one year general banking experience.

Knowledge & Communication Skills

  • Solid understanding of federal regulations governing bank operations and legal documentation.

  • Moderate knowledge of ACH operating rules.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective communication with internal and external customers to answer questions and independently resolve complex problems.

  • Ability to recognize when a problem requires escalation to a supervisor.

Analytical & Decision Making Skills

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex balancing scenarios including the ability to independently resolve out-of-balance conditions. Must display strong problem solving skills.

  • Thorough understanding of debits, credits, and account balancing concepts.

  • Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to calculate interest accruals.

  • Ability to independently prioritize work in a deadline oriented environment and ensure that staff efficiently complete routine job functions.

  • Evaluate current processes for efficiencies and make recommendations to management.

Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of core applications including deposits, loans, general ledger, and electronic banking products.

  • Ability to navigate through developed spreadsheets, databases and models used in balancing daily work.

  • Able to comprehend and respond to new software and program upgrades. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.
