The Volvo Trucks North America New River Valley Plant, located adjacent to the Blueridge mountains in Virginia, is looking for key leaders to join its Assembly Operations team. The NRV Plant is the largest plant globally within the Volvo Truck Group and is home to 100% of all Volvo trucks produced for the North America market with 2 million square feet under roof, on a site of over 550 acres and is poised to continue its growth with new product and industrial projects.

The Operations Supervisor role is a key part of the team taking responsibility for safety, quality, employee engagement and production output for a significant portion of the process.

Core Responsibilities

  • Effective leader of people, with a track record of team development, empowerment and communication within a complex production environment

  • Lead World Class Manufacturing continuous improvements to support enhanced customer satisfaction.

  • Support cross functional activities with Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and Logistics teams.

  • Supports leadership with departmental objectives as related to productivity, assembly schedules and efficiency

  • Responsible for team member development plans, identifying training, providing training and maintaining competence levels of the business unit

  • Develop effective assembly teams based on MOST time studies, controlling resource allocation, vacation and absentee pools

  • Responsible to maintain compliance and hold team members accountable to company policy and procedures and bargaining unit contract

  • Maintain effective and open communications with team members through departmental meetings and personal development

  • Maintain health and safety for all business unit personnel by ensuring proper work habits, use, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and housekeeping, related to assembly areas

  • Responsible for ensuring employees in their respective area that has the training and tools to meet the procedures and work instructions of NRV

Minimum Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience in leading people

  • Four (4) years' experience in Manufacturing / Production strongly preferred

  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred

  • Commercial vehicle industry preferred

Be part of our team and make a difference!</p><p>Primary Focus</p><p>Oversees and manages the daily operations and functions of customer service areas within the Dublin Community Recreation Center including: Facility Reservations, Managers on Duty, Front Desk, Memberships, Babysitting, Teen Lounge and Gymnasium. Develops, implements, and/or reviews facility policies and procedures to ensure patron safety and satisfaction.</p><p>Given the nature of this classification's duties/responsibilities, it has been designated as Exempt under the governing Fair Labor Standards Act regulations and, therefore, is not entitled to formal overtime compensation and/or formal compensatory time.</p><p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p><p>Directly supervises one (1) Recreation Operations Specialist, one (1) Recreation Operations Coordinator, one (1) Membership Services Coordinator and part-time/seasonal Managers on Duty (MODs). Manages dailyoperation of the DCRC and its rental facilities through proactively problem solving patron, staff,maintenance, and facility-related issues; ensures the Recreation Center is a safe, secure, and clean environment for people of all ages.</p><p>Collaborates with DCRC staff, guests, and various City Departments/Divisions to identify and refine policy and process improvements; implements notification changes to ensure consistent and accurate communication to staff and guests; executes work unit goals and objectives that are aligned with DCRC strategic initiatives; assists and participates in special projects as recommended by Operations Administrator.</p><p>Provides overall workforce management, recruitment and selection, performance evaluation, development, and employee relations.</p><p>Oversees Facility Reservations work unit and ensures excellent customer service is provided during the reservations process; provides engaged correspondence to patrons and internal customers regarding reservations and related event planning; assists in the daily operating activities of the Facility Reservations unit.</p><p>Collaborates with Recreation Center programmers regarding their facility needs; evaluates usage to ensure space/rooms are being used effectively and efficiently; manages the inventory of furniture and amenities provided in each space; helps create spaces that are multi-functional and fit current needs.</p><p>Develops marketing strategies and tools for promoting facility rentals; evaluates and make recommendations to ensure quality and innovative services are provided during the reservation process.</p><p>Oversees the incident and accident reporting process; ensures documentation is accurate, detailed, and objective; follows up with patrons, staff, or Police, if needed. Reviews video surveillance to assist with incidents, accidents, or to aid Police.</p><p>Develops Operations budget recommendations; justifies operational and budgetary improvements and expenditures; monitors budget expenditures, procurement, invoicing, and reports.</p><p>Serves as the primary liaison for the Facilities Department who manage the DCRC custodial contract.</p><p>Performs other related duties as assigned.</p><p>Qualifications</p><p>Minimum Qualifications</p><p>Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Hospitality Administration or other relevant field and experience in a supervisory capacity (some experience working at a Recreation Center or similar facility preferred), or any equivalent combination of education and experience.</p><p>Primary responder: Must be certified in American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration within 30 days of appointment.
