ABOUT THIS ROLE:

The Operations Supervisor - Receiving and Replenishment will direct the activities of hourly employees engaged in performing work related to the distribution of product to Hallmark retailers. The principal responsibility of an Operations Supervisor is to supervise 40-55 employees involved in one or more distribution operation processes. This includes assigning work to department personnel and verifying that production standards are met. The manager will develop a thorough understanding of the process, to ensure that operations run as efficiently as possible, that cost parameters are met, that execution meets high quality standards, and that focus is put on continually improving the process to exceed customer expectations.

This position will report to the LDC2 on a daily basis during peak season operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing daily activities of OSS and MMS on 2nd shift.

  • Responsible for ensuring 2nd receiving and replenishment activities are complete and inventory levels are serviceable for Order Processing.

  • Potential to work at LDC1 and/or 1st shift hours during nonpeak times. (to be determined based on business needs)

  • Responsible for Managing LDC2 Corrugate and working with partners at LDC1 to place orders/schedule transfers as needed.

  • Responsible for monitoring PIV compliance by inbound departments

  • Meets or exceeds departmental objectives by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Provides feedback, written and verbal, that accurately reflects the performance of each individual employee.

  • Assigns work duties to personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; identifying and resolving problems; reporting results of the area.

  • Maintains staff by anticipating personnel requirements, looks for out-of-the box solutions to handle peak needs, and keeps chain of command appraised of those needs. Participates in interviewing, assessing talent, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.

  • Demonstrates strong technical knowledge and is regarded as Subject Matter Expert (SME). Is seen as a credible source of information and is sought out for this expertise.

  • Acts as a representative of Hallmark to their direct reports and is the resource direct reports seek out. Knowledgeable regarding company policies and any governmental laws/regulations across the various functional areas: Environmental, Safety, Human Resources, Finance, (such as Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, OSHA standards, etc.) that affects the work group and assures compliance with those regulations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Associates Degree OR a minimum of 3 years supervising direct reports

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree - preferably in supply chain, engineering, or production operations

  • Experience managing in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment

  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor teams

  • Prior knowledge of Manhattan Warehouse Management system

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills -includes both verbal and written

  • SAP knowledge and experience

  • Project management experience

  • Adept at seeing opportunities to improve upon the status quo and implementing solutions

  • Familiarity with principles of LEAN
