Position Description:

The Operations Supervisor role is located at our mining and processing site in Mountain Pass, California, approximately 50 miles south of Las Vegas. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing and directing mineral processing and/or chemical plant activities.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversee safe, reliable, and efficient execution of operational plans

  • Establish and promote a positive, team-oriented work environment emphasizing employee involvement, safety, proactive communication, inter-departmental cooperation, and continuous improvement

  • Lead by example: Sets expectations for the team; assist with training of team members; and monitor delegated activities

  • Monitor daily production and quality control records, identify inefficiencies, and take appropriate corrective actions where necessary Assist in troubleshooting process instability

  • Ensure effective communication with department and sitewide leadership on operational and personnel matters

  • Oversee implementation of human resources policies for team members

  • Completes any other tasks as needed or as directed by management

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of chemical, mining, petroleum, or heavy industrial experience required

  • Experience operating light or heavy mobile equipment

  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills

  • Ability to instill and communicate a strong safety culture

  • Experience with the following mechanical equipment and unit operations preferred: kilns and dryers, reactor tanks, filter presses, thickeners, pumps and valves, wet scrubbers,

  • Basic familiarity with process control and automation systems including SCADA networks, process historians, PLCs, and HMIs.

  • Ability to learn quickly, work at a fast pace, keep a positive attitude and manage stressful situations with professionalism

  • Valid Driver's License and a good driving record are required in order to drive company vehicles on property

Specialized Skills:

  • Knowledge of how to read PFDs and P&IDs

  • Chemical Processing (Solvent Extraction, ion exchange, pH Adjustment, Chlor-Alkali) experience preferred

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • Experience with ERP and payroll/HR systems preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal skills required

The expected pay rate is $100,000. The actual pay rate offered may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills, and/or location.

Our facility sits at an elevation of 4700 feet.

While performing the responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate laboratory equipment. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must pass a full-face respiratory fit test. Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in PPE level C.
