Summary (About this Position):

The Operations Supervisor

  • Final Assembly is a key position role within Aptiv's Brookhaven, MS operations. The position includes direct responsibility for the administration and performance of the Final Assembly Operators. The Operations Supervisor

  • Final Assembly will report directly to the APU Manager. The Manufacturing Final Assembly Supervisor must be energetic, action-oriented, pragmatic, resourceful, flexible, creative, innovative, hands-on, process-oriented, intelligent, and can set and support long-term strategy. This individual's personal characteristics include being tough-minded, decisive, and tenacious. The successful candidate should have the ability to coach and be coached and enjoy learning.

The Operations Supervisor

  • Final Assembly is responsible for the day-to-day management of the shift production. This position will ensure superior service to customers, with a strong focus on cost, quality and on-time delivery. The successful candidate is responsible for developing, monitoring, measuring and managing the shift department to ensure objectives are met. Driving growth through safe an efficient manufacturing performance while improving yields and eliminating waste will be a key mandate for this leader. The Operations Supervisor

  • Final Assembly will ensure that all areas of responsibility in the production department continually meet or exceed organizational objectives and be capable of building, developing, and managing strong teams and establishing a performance-based culture around accountability and manufacturing excellence. Focusing on building a world-class team, utilizing and deploying lean techniques, driving achievement of company goals and superior performance across all KPIs will be a critical element of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Conduct daily Safety Observation Tours with team leaders, operators, maintenance leaders, quality leaders thru the manufacturing area to identify and correct potential safety risk.

  • Housekeeping Promote 5S culture thru the team members. Monitor and improve every day.

  • People The successful candidate will have a strong track record as a leader, including team leadership, people development (Create strategies to reduce Absenteeism and attrition on the

Team).

  • Quality Promote a quality culture to the team members (Not pass-Not allow defects), Not orphan parts or overproduction. Drive to zero quality complaints culture, develop Rapid Problem Solving documents and participate on action plan meetings. Not allow scrap, monitor and track daily cost of poor quality performance.

  • Cost Strong focus on production standards (On time Delivery), Scheduling and Days on Hand for every part number. Focus on OT elimination.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with scheduling and PC&L team to ensure production schedules are optimal and achievable

  • Promote and participate in Aptiv's Continuous improvement culture

  • Provide direction and guidance for the Manufacturing Operators

  • Ensure the optimal application of floor resources (Quality techs, Maintenance techs, Team leaders, PC&L team, operators to meet customer requirements)

  • Provide effective leadership and direction to operators while demonstrating high ethical standards

  • Assist in the development and control of department targets

  • Coordinate and recommend cost savings and efficiency ideas

  • Effectively communicate and interact with people at all levels and geographies (both internal and external)

  • Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements

Must Haves (i.e. Basic Qualifications):

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to manage and lead a team.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Management

  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 2+ years experience as a manufacturing supervisor; ideally within the automotive industry

  • 2+ years' experience employing Lean principles

Nice to Haves (i.e. Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with managing a union environment

  • Ability to problem solve efficiently and effectively

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams, Visio, etc.)

  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization

  • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team

  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently

This business unit provides technologies that serve as the nervous system of the vehicle, including the complete design, manufacture and assembly of the vehicle's connection systems.

This business unit's products include a vast array of connection systems technologies for the vehicle, including: Housings, Terminals, MePa/Pin-headers, High Voltage Chargers and Interconnects, SRS, High Speed Data solutions, On-Glass connections, Electrical Centers, Media Modules and Wireless Charging products.
