Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this individual will be accountable for supervising the activities of the manufacturing group engaged in assembly, fabrication, testing, and packaging of electrical, electromechanical and electronic devices or parts. In this role you will ensure that production is maintained in accordance with time schedules, engineering specifications, quality standards, expense budgets, employee safety and cost goals, and also assist in maintaining a goal-oriented, safe, and quality-conscious working environment.

This individual will coordinate introduction into manufacturing of all major projects, including new products related to solar and wind power. He or she will promote employee acceptance of changes and good safety attitudes and awareness.

Candidates considered for this role must possess relevant training, education and experience, strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

We are currently recruiting for a Logistics Operations Manager to join our Global Logistics team at our headquarters in Vancouver, WA. SUMMARY Logistics Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the financial and operational execution of Nautilus's global logistics network, with greater emphasis on the international supply chain. As a member of the Nautilus team, the Logistics Operations Manager will be responsible for creating a more productive, cost-effective and profitable supply chain with best-in-class visibility. Will lead the logistics strategy and collaborate across multiple departments and partners to create shipping programs that delivers best in class supply chain network and costs to customers while preserving financial sustainability and operational efficiency. A successful candidate will be able to adapt to changing priorities and proactively identify and recommend strategies to optimize or improve performance at every logistics touch point. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Plans and maintains an efficient and class leading inbound/outbound and global supply chain network: * Manages carriers including qualification, selection and performance evaluation * Conducts regular bids by mode (annually, semi-annually or every three years) * Maintains and monitors compliance to all active inbound/outbound and global carrier contracts * Develops/implements/monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) with specific focus on cost, efficiency, quality and service. Holds regular quarterly reviews with carriers and service providers * Works directly with logistic providers in the design and modeling of transportation solutions that drive supply chain improvements * Manages initiatives/continuous improvement projects with logistic providers * Negotiates transportation rates and services * Analyzes and determines validity of logistic providers costs * Facilitates/performs routine and special audits of logistics providers, including freight payment processes, order/receipt/invoice reconciliation process * Maintain freight rates and tariffs for all carriers * Identifies, analyzes and resolves global transportation issues, both operational and strategic. Plans and implements improvements to internal or external logistics systems and processes * Analyzes the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers * Partners with cross-functional departments in support of the logistics function * Manages all aspects of the ocean inbound supply chain. This includes but not limited to carrier relationships, forecasts, allocation, space constraints, quoting, escalated shipments, and keeping the business updated on new developments. * Manages end-to-end cycle of global supply chain. This includes but not limited to bookings, shipment execution, document generation, broker management and clearance, tracking, visibility, recordkeeping, freight audit, and freight payment. * Support end-of-quarter preparation for inbound inventory, outbound equipment, and carrier capacity planning. * Manage an efficient and timely quotation process for inbound samples, tradeshows, international imports/exports, and remote locations. Carrier base should evolve to support business needs as new trade lanes evolve, distribution networks expands or changes, and we enter new markets. * Manage transit tables in ERP and monitor variances to transit, adjust accordingly. * Drive the strategy and processes for accurate and timely shipment visibility to various department. Ensure shipment visibility in ERP is maintained in both integrated and no-intergraded methods. * Manages PO/Order Management strategy, process, and management of service provider * Establishes functional global transportation strategies aligned with our overall supply chain strategy * Oversee communication and maintain relationships with import brokers, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, carriers, truckers, suppliers, and internal departments to facilitate product movement while avoiding or mitigating shipment delays * Manage month-end close of business activities. This includes but not limited to inventory in-transit, freight accruals review and approvals, expense review, variance reviews. * Oversee auditor walk through of internal controls plus ongoing updates of documented controls * Manage the freight and duty Standard Cost roll at the frequency set by accounting, measure variances to standards through the year and provide visibility to management. * Review all freight expenses and approve expenses within the designated authority limit. Establish and maintain processes for auditing, GL code assignment, tracking, approval, timely payment, and review statement of accounts. Drive systems simplification efforts for freight audit automation and carrier invoice integration. * Supplier onboarding and continuous improvement collaboration with sourcing and purchasing. This includes reviewing the supplier handbook processes and participating in supplier performance input and reviews. * Publish monthly value based KPI's that measure cost, service, on-time delivery, team and carrier performance * Ensure our critical ERP use cases are documented and maintained to support regression testing during ERP upgrades, and that business executed testing in a timely manner. * Manage configuration and settings in ERP, freight quotation systems, and TMS systems. Ensure tools are fully utilized and meet business needs, provide training to the business. * Drive cross-functional strategic initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and overall cost structure. * Oversee management of duty drawback process, accrual, claim preparation, and service provider management * Develop, adapt, and implement policies and procedures to ensure the operational effectiveness of logistics operations to support business, audit, and customer requirements * Act as liaison between business units to ensure requirements are met and/or communicated and accurately executed in a timely manner * Work cross functionally to identify and apply best practices and continuous process improvements. * Provide scalable solutions for continued growth and flexibility, international expansion, taking into considerations subsidiary structures and intercompany agreements. * Develop, deploy and maintain up-to-date export/import compliance policies, procedures and documents. * Ensure records are maintained and in compliance with all governing regulatory requirements and export and import activities demonstrate reasonable care. * Proactively identify potential export compliance risks and develop assessment corrective measures. * Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations * Partners with IT to establish system integration methodologies focused on industry standards and ease of integration * Identify transportation initiatives, resources and technology improvements that would benefit the department and Nautilus * Understand the systems and system processes that the business uses. Work side by side with IT, System Analysts and Project Managers to ensure the business is getting what they need systematically, follow up systems defects, request enhancements to systems, and participate in testing new features. * On both an individual and team basis, serves as a positive, energetic agent of change and improvement within Nautilus. * All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work requested that falls within the qualification but not specifically described SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 2-5 employees in the Global Logistics department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees and seasonal temporary employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance in a timely manner; rewarding and disciplining employees; approving hours worked; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for mentoring, managing, developing and creating a work environment that is based on trust and teamwork. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management or equivalent with 7 or more year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of three years related experience the ocean industry required. * Extensive knowledge of global logistics and ocean environment is essential: * Operational Network * Contract Management * Detailed knowledge of the following transportation modes and rate structures is essential: * International Airfreight * International and Domestic parcel * Less than Container Load (LCL) * Ocean Consolidation * Less than Truckload (LTL) * Final mile/white glove * Intermodal truckload * Over-the-road truckload * Familiarity with import/export regularity requirements and/or US Customs Broker license a plus. * Familiarity with general distribution center/warehousing procedures/processes is preferred. Experience with Customs Bonded Warehouses a plus. * Expertise in carrier onboarding, process and SOP documentation, rate and performance management, partnering with carriers to drive continuous improvement initiatives * Familiarity with freight auditing tools a plus * Collaborative team player, with the ability to work effectively with multiple departments and levels within the company. Ability to build effective working relationships across teams. * Strong verbal, written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate assumptions, methods, and results to peers and management. * High degree of complexity; strong problem solving and analytical skills * Highly organized and demonstrates the ability to manage cross functional projects * Minimum of 1-2 years of people management experience. * Must be able to travel Domestically and Internationally. * Familiarity with PO/Order Management systems and providers preferred. * Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite with extensive knowledge of Excel, Visio, MS Access and MS PowerPoint is preferred. * Systems experience – preferably hands-on experience - with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and/or Transportation Management Systems (TMS). NetSuite ERP or WMS experience a plus.
