Responsibilities
We currently have an opening in our Stamford, CT office for an Operations Specialist.
We are currently in the office on a hybrid schedule - note that the Berkley Custom office is right next to the Stamford Metro North Station, making for an easy reverse commute from Manhattan.
The Operations Specialist role will report to the SVP of Finance/Accounting. Core responsibilities for this position will include:
Coordinate the operational component of the monthly, quarterly and annual Close.
Assist the SVP of Finance/Accounting with the on-boarding of business systems.
Assist the SVP of Finance/Accounting with the coordination of outward reinsurance renewals.
Partner with Operating functions in order to comply timely with KPMG external audits, reinsurance audits and internal audits.
The successful candidate will be analytical, a self-starter, able to work independently, deadline oriented and will perform duties assigned on a timely basis.
Qualifications
Insurance or reinsurance experience is a plus.
Technical skills: The successful candidate will possess the ability to work at a very detailed level, identify problems and provide solutions.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Knowledge of SQL a plus
Accounting Knowledge: This position requires a good understanding of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles. Reinsurance accounting knowledge a plus.
Accountability: The successful candidate will take responsibility for assignments and show initiative in developing more efficient ways to complete routing tasks.
Strong Interpersonal skills.
Self-directed in achieving closure on deliverables.
