Tarkett is seeking a hands-on Safety Technician to support and enforce the safety program in our Chagrin Falls manufacturing site. You will partner with all facets of the operations to eliminate hazards, carry out safety initiatives and ensure proper safety compliance. The Operations Safety Technician will help implement and enforce an environmental health and safety program that strives to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements and provides for a safe work environment that is free of hazards in pursuit of zero work-related injuries using a behavioral based approach.

Essential duties and responsibilities
Assists with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program
Engage and collaborate with production supervision to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, NFPA, etc.) and safety policies within the operations
Conduct and document regular inspections of work environment and equipment to ensure safety program is being adhered to
Maintain a visible presence in the manufacturing environment through coaching and mentoring on safety policies and programs
Halt any unsafe work or actions observed
Carry out hands-on improvements to reduce hazards including actions from unsafe condition and Gemba reporting
Work with operations to establish corrective and preventative actions to eliminate hazards
Perform job hazard analysis (JHAs) and stimulate improvements to procedures and safe work practices in support of achieving zero incidents
Help conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed
Think critically and identify areas for improvement by collaborating with plant supervision
Perform, document, and trend behavioral-safety observations
Assist in personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and trials as well as to ensure its proper use, maintenance and storage.
Complete incident investigations and analysis and track corrective and preventative actions
Assist with case management and return to work programs
Deliver safety training for both small and large audiences, hourly and salaried
Verify the completion of daily safety routines and monitor and audit training programs
Analyze data and perform trending analysis in order to identify and implement corrective actions as well as develop strategic risk mitigation strategies
Assist in maintaining assorted databases and software programs in support of the EHS Department and Plant EHS initiatives
Aid in the completion of the Plant's monthly and annual reports
Respond to employee safety concerns and serve as an EHS Champion in furthering a "Safety First" culture
Basic qualifications
Associates Degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline preferred
Minimum of one year of experience in Safety and Industrial Hygiene in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of Tier II and FORM R reporting, Air permitting, and hazardous waste management
Knowledge of workers compensation law and light duty / return to work programs
Excellent verbal and written skills to include technical writing
Strong interpersonal and presentations skills are essential
Must be able to interact well at all levels of the organization
Advanced computer skills are essential
To be able to work irregular hours including evening and weekends to accommodate the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing operation
To spend significant time working on the plant floor
