Under general supervision, the position is responsible for utilizing problem solving and quantitative methods to provide engineering solutions through software or API development in various areas of the organization.
Applies knowledge of organization, technology and operations research to make improvements to existing applications or create new services.
Develops and implements new features, services or applications that meet J.B. Hunt's standards in performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Solves problems to improve revenue and reduce cost.
Independently communicates with business partners to understand problems and present solutions.
Participates in development efforts in an Agile development environment, daily stand ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and sprint demos.
Works within a collaborative environment and contributes to team goals by offering open and honest communication and helping to meet deadlines.
Bachelors degree in Computer and Information Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering, or related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience and training. At least 2 years of experience in Engineering preferred. Experience in statistics, operations research, linear programming, relational databases, SQL, C#, decision support, optimization solver (CPLEX, Gurobi, FICO Xpress), object-oriented programming, mixed-integer programming, VRP, TSP, clustering and heuristics.
