What you will do:
The Op's QC Lab Tech supports QC lab and plant-wide quality testing. Duties may include cheese, whey, and milk analysis; microbial sample collection and analysis, milk component analysis, some sensory evaluation, antibiotics and general testing and lab clean up.
Here's a day in the life:
Instrumentation calibration and verification
Complete analytical and some organoleptic assessments to ensure quality attributes of products
Co-ordinate with the production department to meet the quality specifications and the customer targets
Ensure that the laboratory meets the guidelines of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in the quality manual
Learn new skills and show initiative to complete all laboratory duties as assigned by management
Milk Receiving QA equipment maintenance
When trained, calibrate FT-1 milk, whey and cream channels
Wash and sanitize lab equipment
Review all results and look for outliers or trends that need to be rechecked
Compute results of chemistry analysis for cheese and whey
Component and chemical analysis on in process and two-day old cheese sample plugs from each vat of cheese
Component and chemical analysis on Raw Milk, Whey, WPC, Lactose, Skim Milk, Cream loadouts, and Sweet Cream received
Sample collection from milk receiving and preparation for farm milk samples to TCCA
Temperature recording on all incubators and refrigerators on proper forms
Completes data entry facilities sampling data generation and reporting to internal management and sends formal reports to patrons via email or mail.
Take initiative to assist with regular inventory of laboratory supplies to ensure proper rotation and ordering needs
Utilize a computer with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Intermediate to Advance Excel skills are preferred.
Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrate excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Bacterial analysis on liquid samples for PAC, yeast and mold, and Coli form counts
Skills you'll need:
Must be able to pass pre-employment testing; ability to be forklift certified.
