Northrop Grumman offers a challenging career opportunity in our Operations Planning and Control team within the Mission Systems sector at our Salt Lake City, UT facility. Working in Northrop Grumman Mission Systems means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility and reshaping the world we live in. We are seeking an Operations Project Manager (OPM) level 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between operations factory management, program management, business management, engineering, MRP scheduling/planning, production control, mission assurance, and global supply chain.

  • Review status of projects and budgets; manage schedules and prepares status reports.

  • Coordinate and plan support of factory production schedules in support of Annual Operating Plan and Indicated Final program management and business management targets.

  • Oversee inputs of new demand orders into the planning system and coordinate, forecast, and report on performance to contract schedules.

  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving, and leads project teams as required to ensure performance to objectives and address risk

MANUMS

Basic Qualifications for a Band 3:

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience; or 4 Years of relevant experience with Masters Degree

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint)

  • SAP experience

  • Experience in Project Management, Manufacturing Operations, Scheduling, or Production Control arenas

  • Excellent presentation skills to supporting teams, managers, and executives

Preferred Qualifications for a Band 3:

  • Master's degree (completed or in progress)

  • Prior Project Management experience coordinating diverse multifunctional teams

  • Microsoft Project experience

  • Familiar with data querying (Oracle, based queries) and data analysis for schedule, cost, and quality based data

  • Integrated Product Team (IPT) experience

  • Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)

  • Experience with Department of Defense (DOD) programs

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 10 years of experience; or 8 Years with Masters

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent presentation skills to supporting teams, managers, and executives

Preferred Qualifications for a Band 4:

  • Microsoft Project experience

Communicates with customers on contractual and financial issues. May coordinate multi-section projects spanning multiple groups. Coordinate and communicate with customers on all levels of the project. Responsible for entire projects or sub-sections as assigned by Group Leader or responsible for portions of large systems-integration projects. Typically manages job section volume less than $10,000,000 annually and individual job sections smaller than $2,000,000. Essential Job Functions * Greatly improve project margins through best management practices. * Lead back charge negotiations up to $20,000 or 5% of the contract value of project section, whichever is less. * Understand advanced project related calculations. * Check and approve intermediate and advanced project related calculations. * Capable of acting as an Assistant Group Leader. * Coordinate vendor activities to support project objectives. * Coordinate sub-contractor activities. * Mentor multiple other employees and be regarded as a group-wide expert in one or more disciplines. * Assist in leading a multi-discipline project team that may include applications engineers, project engineers, estimators, electrical, and project managers that sit both inside the group and in other groups. * Coordinate and schedule integrated process engineering, including P&ID's, process flow diagrams, mass balances, and control philosophies. * Coordinate and maintain a detailed project schedule for all project job sections (both inside the group and outside) as required by Supplier/Vendor Data Requirements (SDRs or VDRs). * Direct Document Control personnel regarding drawings and documents for all job sections on a project, including tracking of drawing status. * Direct all electrical activities across all job sections, including PLC programming including Factory Acceptance Test (FAT). * Assist with outside engineering and design sub-contractors. * Assist with coordinating complex systems integration plant start-up and commissioning. * Coordinate with other Project Managers in meetings with the customer on a regular basis to update and review all aspects of the project. * Improve job section margins through best management practices. * Consistently meet and exceed customer deliverable milestone dates. * Maintain project manager checklists for a large number of job sections. * Prepare a project estimate and properly review and approve estimates prepared by Group Estimators. * Lead back charge negotiations up to $5000 or 2% of the contract value of project section, whichever is less. * Perform complex start up and operator training on group products, including basic process training. * Understand intermediate project related calculations. * Check and approve basic project related calculations. * Successfully negotiate contract or purchase order terms with customers. * Approve detail drawings. * Mentor another employee. * Create and maintain a detailed project schedule for all project job sections (both inside the group and outside). * Track and maintain current costs and change orders for multiple sections of the project.
