Job Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Operations Manager is responsible for hiring and training KCN staff, insuring compliance with policies and procedures and act as the liaison for the on-site staff, customers, and Keefe Commissary Network for assigned territory and on-site locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Posses full working knowledge of the KCN Best Business Practices Guide

  • Have an understanding of Centric Group policies and benefits (attendance, medical, vacation, etc.)

  • Work with Regional Vice President to improve labor efficiencies at assigned KCN operations

  • Monthly review of the KCN Account Analysis with the KCN Regional Vice President on all warehouse and non-warehouse labor

  • Assist the KCN Regional/Group Vice President in the managing of the new account start-ups and schedules by:

  • Manage the hiring of new staff

  • Verify all applications, drug tests, and new hire packets are properly completed, given to Regional/Group V.P. for approval, and forwarded to KCN Corporate/Centric Group

  • Train new staff on AS400 software, inventory, and company policies

  • Train the on-site supervisor/manager on proper inventory control, including all procedures and reports in the BBPG

  • Implement policies for credits, damaged product, out of date product and returns

  • Assist the Account Manager in the counting and inventory of customer buyback

  • Instruct on-site staff on KCN and Facility security/safety procedures, notifying KCN management if there are conflicts with the Facilities policies/procedures

  • Provide follow up training, on-going support and assistance to all on-site managers and staff

  • All reviews for on-site and regional managers and manage the review process with the on-site managers and their staff

  • Establish monthly reports and reporting features

  • Assist in the accuracy and submission of weekly time sheets for payroll for all on-site staff

  • Present information to analyze the profitability, costs and operational issues of prospective accounts

  • Prepare weekly status reports

  • Complete miscellaneous duties/projects as assigned by KCN Regional/Group V.P.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This positions has supervisory and non-supervisory direct reports including Regional Commissary Managers and Commissary On-Site Staff.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license

  • Posses DOC ID pass

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be a self-starter who can work well with people at all levels both in and out of KCN Organization in a professional manner.

  • Ability to travel on a weekly basis within assigned territory

  • Warehouse managerial or supervisory experience a plus

  • Must complete a drug screening test

Summary * Responsible for effective facility safety and loss prevention programs. Ensures compliance with all current safety regulations and provides consulting and guidance to facility management. Primary Duties and Responsibilities * Monitors and enforces both corporate and facility-level safety policies. Develops local safety procedures for the benefit of employees, inmates/detainees/patients/residents, outside contractors and visitors. * Conducts regularly-scheduled safety inspections within and throughout the facility including the physical plant, equipment and company vehicles. Makes recommendations to address unsafe conditions or unsafe practices and, with approval, initiates corrective action. Re-inspects as required to observe ongoing compliance. * Conducts initial as well as ongoing safety training for all levels of staff as well as inmates, detainees, patients, and residents. * Conducts training and mentoring for less-experienced Fire and Safety personnel based in other GEO facilities and participates in compliance audits of other facilities. * Controls the introduction and use of hazardous chemicals in all departments including food service, maintenance, housing units, laundry, vocational programs, transportation, and recreation. Is responsible for facility-wide Monitors Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) compliance. * Evaluates the need for personal protective equipment and monitors usage and effectiveness. * Establishes and controls the facility's sanitation and hygiene standards (waste products, surface contaminants, biological hazards), air quality, noise-level, and illumination compliance. * Monitors and ensures that facility fire protection system and safety equipment are fully functional. Conducts or arranges for all scheduled testing as required by the organization's insurers, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) or client regulations. * Works with the facility's senior management team to develop a written Emergency Plan and conduct at least one simulation per year. Serves as the operational liaison with community emergency responders. Adopts all relevant Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command guidelines. * Conducts scheduled fire drills across all shifts as determined by facility or insurance policies. * Responsible for the safety and industrial hygiene aspects of audit compliance including correction of any deficiencies. * Responsible for the facility's safety budget. * Conducts monthly safety committee meetings as established by the Facility Administrator. * Conducts investigations of accidents or near accidents including determining cause, assessing property damage, and preparing reports with recommended corrective actions. * Ensures the accuracy of the accident recording system or Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) log. Analyzes accident trends and recommends remedies. * Reviews all on-site construction and contracted repairs activities to ensure they are in compliance with all safety policies and regulations. * Is on-call 24/7 for facility emergencies. * Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's degree supplemented by training or education in the principles of occupational/industrial health and safety and two (2) years of experience in a correctional safety role or (5) years of work experience in the military or other industry involving fire safety, occupational health or loss prevention.
