Spark Thermionics is an early-stage energy startup building a power plant on a chip, a generator that can efficiently convert any fuel to electricity at 1/10th the size and weight of the state-of-the-art.

Spark is now working to scale from prototype production to initial manufacturing lines with the support of the California Energy Commission.

Job activities would include:

  • Managing vendor relationships, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and other records
  • Developing and managing tracking systems for essential components as we scale production
  • Responsibly administering state and federal grants and contracts totaling in the millions of dollars
  • Organizing company events like team celebrations and offsite retreats
  • Adding to an inclusive and exciting company culture

Requirements

An outstanding Operations Manager candidate would have:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication verbally, in presentations, and in email
  • Experience defining and executing on complex projects
  • Eagerness to work on varied and fast-paced projects as part of a small team

In addition, we are particularly interested in candidates that have some of the following:

  • Experience in operations roles, ideally at a startup or small business
  • Strong background in Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
  • Familiarity with grant and contract administration
  • Have some degree of technical experience, such as work experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting, and/or a degree or coursework in a STEM field
  • Have some programming experience in at least one of: Matlab/Octave, Python/SciPy, R

This role will focus on direct to consumer product development and overall sales channel expansion and support. With the demand for healthier alternatives to sugar and consumer interest in health & wellness growing, the young but successful Purecane brand plans to expand exponentially in the coming months through a series of new product launches and partnerships with distributors and brokers, both eCommerce and brick and mortar. This requires nimble cross-functional execution planning, consumer behavior research, competitor analysis, robust supply-chain setup and targeted sales strategies. The Sales Operations & Product Development Manager will de-risk and maximize revenue and gross margin for Purecane products in 2020, supporting daily the Director of Sales & Marketing and reporting to the President of Purecane. Responsibilities: * Execute competitive product research and analysis to identify unique opportunities for new products, product bundles and product promotions * Expand product specific roadmaps that combine market data, technical data and operational data into a cohesive fact base to help support decision making * Develop go-to-market strategies, including competitive intelligence/landscape considerations, segment and channel priorities * Assist with execution of existing product launches in coordination with brand content calendar and commercial, marketing, communications, operations and technical teams * Align with Supply Chain teams to manage production timelines as they pertain to new product or packaging development; Assist with inventory management and fulfillment * Build relationships with existing and potential distributors and brokers, preparing cost analysis, product pricing models and managing deliverables * Monitor business and sales activity on a daily basis via eCommerce, Amazon, and all future channels. Identify gaps and tactics to drive sales and generate revenue * Assist with Gift with Purchase program and strategic promotion development to enhance overall product offering and drive sales * Report weekly on sales performance across all channels Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. * 3+ years of experience in a sales or product development role with experience in e-Commerce and brick & mortar within the CPG space. * Strong understanding of the Amazon business space as it relates to CPG sales and market activity. * Strong project management skills with proven track record of delivering high quality work under tight timelines. * Work well independently and collaboratively with all levels of the organization. * Must demonstrate sound decision-making and ability to react quickly under pressure. Operates effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. * Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
