I. Summary

The Operations Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the company. This position involves managing various aspects of the business to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability. The Operations Manager collaborates with different teams, including production, logistics, finance, and human resources, to achieve operational goals and drive overall business success.

II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of employees.

  • Set clear performance expectations, assign tasks and monitor progress.

  • Identify and resolve problems of conflicts that arise within the team.

  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments.

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Monitor costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost-control measures without compromising quality and operational efficiency.

  • Implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the organization's objectives.

  • Optimize the utilization of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to meet production targets and deliver products or services on time.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports, records and documentation

III. Required Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent team player; strong communications and interpersonal skills

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, self-starter, motivated individual

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

  • Knowledge of scrap metal commodities helpful.

  • Ability to perform all physical, mental and environmental job functions

  • Ability to work in all elements such as rain, cold, and heat

IV. Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree or comparable work experience

V. Other Job Demands

While performing the essential functions of this job, the operations manager will be working in an outdoor environment. The employee may be near moving mechanical parts and will be exposed to all weather conditions. The noise level in the environment can be loud and will require ear protection. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. This job also requires frequent bending, kneeling, and standing, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in confined spaces.
