Position Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for the long and short-range operational, and technical strategies. This individual is the Management Representative for the ISO certification.

The Operations Manager is responsible for providing the General Manager and other senior management staff with current information about the production and installation schedule and resources needed both capital and personnel. The person in this position must have extensive knowledge of resource techniques, customer statistics, knowledge about the company and its mission to include both short and long term goals. Also responsible for the completion of specific work projects assigned by the General Manager relative to the operation of total company or specific customer services.

The major challenge of this position is to identify and maximize processes that reduce production costs and minimize production costs while integrating customer demand with facility capacity. Close relationships between Lincoln Electric and the business community, professional societies and civic organizations must be developed and maintained.

The major challenges to this position are coordinating the objectives of Lincoln Electric with the sometimes conflicting demands of customers, staff, and vendors and Lincoln Electrics departments; maintains high staff morale and identifies and resolves internal problems and protects the best interests of Lincoln Electric.

This person has the authority to establish operational policies and procedures; hire and terminate employees assigned to the Production; to counsel employees; purchase equipment and services as approved by the budget; recommend operation strategies to the General Manager.

Decisions that must be referred to the General Manager are: purchases of equipment not previously approved in the budget; signing of all contracts and agreements; additional staff not previously authorized and all major policy changes.

Primary responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees the company's long and short range objectives for the manufacture and installation of equipment and parts. Advises, explains and counsels senior management, managers and supervisors concerning operational requirements and strategies

  • Oversees the ISO process and is the ISO Management Representative

  • Identifies the company's ability to meet the needs and desires of its customers

  • Represents the company at various industry functions and meetings.

  • Recommends operational promotions and strategies.

  • Performs normal supervisory/managerial functions in accordance with established company policies and procedures. Conducts written performance evaluations of assigned employees using proper evaluation and documentation methods that result in goal setting for and with the assigned employee. Directs, motivates and develops subordinates to improve performance and capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills; facilitate open communications and the team concept

  • Prepare for and attend company meetings and management meetings

  • Identify and develop key talent in the organization and work with the GM to develop succession plans for key roles.

  • Other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the General Manager

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering preferred or 5 years management experience in an operational setting

  • Must have an advanced understanding of operations management, goals and objectives; must have extensive knowledge of operational techniques, technical issues, and scheduling; understand the requirements of staff, external customers and vendors.

  • Excellent communications, leadership and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrate a leadership role and project a positive attitude

  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed; travel is involved.

Qualifications desired:

  • Master's Degree in Business or Engineering preferred

  • Physical demands: There is minimal reaching, bending and lifting in relationship to documents, stored records and parts in the production area.

  • Work environment: Work is sedentary with frequent periods of walking through the facility to observe and participate in the operational process. Traveling is required to visit locations throughout the United States as well as Canada, Mexico and other international locations in order to meet the needs of customers and other external contacts. Hours may be irregular.
